'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Jmo, never try to apply BMI to football players. Actually, bmi not good for ANY athlete evaluation. It does not factor in lean body mass at all.

This.....I'm 5'9-5'10 and weigh 185-190 with around 4-5% body fat. I had someone tell me once that I needed to weigh 160 and I've been 180-190 for almost 10 years now. :)

FWIW, I'm watching the Rivals 5-star challenge feed, and they can't stop talking about Lawson and Liner. They've been beating O-linemen left and right.

Carl Lawson is a monster. Didn't want to talk much about recruiting earlier, but he still talks to Sunseri and Graham. By the way, he's a monster.

-Fortenberry, at 5star Challenge

The mods on AuburnSports.com seem to think both Dee Liner and Carl Lawson are as solid as they come to Auburn. I've watched a few interviews of both and it seems to me that Liner is definitely 100% Auburn. War Damn Eagle all the time. His visits will just be for fun, and he is coming to UT to babysit Lawson most likely. I think Lawson is listening to UT though. During interviews he isn't as outspoken about Auburn.

BMI drives me crazy...morbid obesity is relative, but medicare has it tied to bmi. It is incorrect for athletic and obese alike. McCullers bmi would be 43.9 borderline morbid obesity...yet he is not. Flawed system.

I agree, my BMI is 27 and I am not "overweight". I am 5'11" 195, and I run on average 30-35 miles per week. System is definitely flawed. back on topic though, hope we can pull this guy, definite need.

Fortenberry said Lawson was the most impressive kid out there today at the 5star challenge, offense or defense.

Auburn Mods on concerns of Lawson eventually flipping to Tennessee on NSD:

He's going to take his visits, but he is probably our most solid commit. He recruits vocally for AU. That's not a guy that's waivering in the slightest.
Agreed. There's no wavering in Lawson. He and Liner have formed a friendship and they love the prospects of playing with each other.

My thoughts are where there's a concern that pops up, it's usually for a reason. Liner sounds pretty solid from what I've heard, but with Lawson, sounds like there really might be smoke. He may very well end up a Tiger on signing day, but, for now, I think it's safe to say there is some legitimate interest in UT on his part.

Didn't the Auburn mods say Cordarrelle was likely to commit shortly after his visit there? How are they still in business? Why do their fans still believe things that they say?

Lawson was named the #1 overall player regardless of position at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge.

1. DE Carl Lawson, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton:

Lawson was hands down the best player at the event and created the most buzz by dominating as a defensive lineman and then playing linebacker as well. His explosiveness off the snap is amazing and he's as powerful as he is quick.
-Rivals.

"I'm not here to prove I'm No. 1 in the country, I'm just here to come out and compete and see what's out here," Lawson said. "I don't care what my ranking is."

"I feel like in rankings sometimes politics go into it, so I don't worry about that and I'm just looking to test my ability. You have to play this sport fast and violent and I'm just out here to play my best."
-Carl Lawson.
