'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

TW and Matt, how do y'all feel about the UT game this year? Do you think your DB's match up well with CP, JH, ZR, and the rest of the receiving corp? And do you think our D will be able to stop Lacy, Yeldon and Fowler?

I know we're only one week into the season and don't have much to go off of, but I'd like to know your thoughts on the game.

My question IF we are really a legit possibility for henry and I really really hope we are....

What about the walker and tunsil connections?

Remember Walker going to UF per HG and most UGA fans will tell you that Tunsil will be a dog.:hi:

I told my UT friend today that I am now worried about Ark and UT more than even LSU. That may seem crazy on the surface but we will limit/stop the LSU run - we just gotta score. Our biggest and possibly only weakness is defending the passing game, and especially the deep passing game... which just happens to be UT's specialty.

My hope is we are able to hit Wilson and Bray enough to disrupt things, and then score enough to keep it out of the danger zone late.

No I do not think we match up well with CP especially (not hard to know that, ha). The double move got us twice saturday and may prove to be costly against UT.

As far as running game I will wait to see how yall do as the season progresses. UT definitely has bigger bodies up front so that will cause more issues, but it is too early for me to know how your tackling and run support will be.

I think UT can score on UA this year. How much will depend on how healthy UA is and how well we come together. I like our DBs individually but not sure I am convinced as a unit they can contain. I saw us give up plays a few times because of lack of support. The one big play Millner just slipped so not a big deal.

The difference for me this year compared to 2010 is UA can score. I do not think it will come down to whether UT can stop our run but can UT stop the pass. UA hammers the ball on the run and very seldom do we not have a strong rushing game but we are more balanced this year on O and I believe the best all around offense under Saban. So for me it comes down which team can outscore the other, the same I feel for the Ark game.

Bama buddy I work with thinks it's going to be UT vs. Bama in the SECCG. That's high praise. I'm not there yet with this team. I will have a much better idea after the UF game. He thinks it's a combination of our explosive offense, SC being weaker than expected (especially on offense), and he's predicting UGA slips up somewhere.

I guess a few of us are greedy and want all of the points that we could have gotten. Especially when we could've lined up in the "I formation" and punished this team in short yardage situations. And why didn't we throw any fades close to goaline since Chaney wanted to throw it down there? Hell that's all I'm saying. Not disappointed at all with the win. I just want to see us capitalize in short yardage and redzone situations.

Fade wasnt open inside the redzone, dep down NCSU was playing a widezone, its why the slant to Hunter was so open. If Bray leads him its an easy touchdown. Running plays to the short side are done because its easier to block. Your hoping on offense that you can get the defense to align to the wide side and get one on one blocking from a wr and break the long run.

UGA slips up this Sat in Columbia, MO!

I am not sold on either team. UA has tough road games at Ark, UT, and LSU. Still not sure on Mizzou on the road. The SEC east, I actually agree on UGA but think UF might end being the team to beat in the end. O still has something to prove but they have the players for D if it comes together quick enough. I also think USC will win alot of close games but will struggle to get to 8 wins and that might be a stretch. UGA on paper should win the East but not buying it. UT is the team that will get a big upset or 2 but not sure enough there to get to Atlanta.

The juco CB got hit with a big play. Think Gallon put him to sleep with a stop and go. Sunseri is hitting well but he's not covering the deep ball well. I think this Vols team is tailor made to beat Bama this year. Sentimore, Couch, and McCullers will test that All-American line of yours. AJ Johnson and Maggitt will be hard to keep of the backs if our front three are playing well. And the game is in Neyland this year. Makes a big difference for those young guys you're lining up. And we've got a couple of special talents at WR that can take a game over. Looking forward to this matchup this year.

We're going to punish Florida in about two weeks then you'll have to find another team for the East. We look better than any team on the East side. The East is a UGA-UT battle. Florida will struggle to score on us this year. That offense is bad. You can't leave your defense out to dry against an offense like ours.

I really hope we can get this guy. He could be used all kinds of ways in our offense. TE/H-Back and could also get some carries at the running back position. A lot like Jacob Hester from LSU but more athletic.

Changed his decision date from the 28th to the 27th. Don't really know if that makes a big difference.

I agree that Henry seems to be smart about analyzing multiple issues in his recruitment, position coach being one of them.

Just from the UT angle, he has said on several occasions that he wanted to see what working under Jay Graham was like (I believe this was leading up to a camp, but I'm not certain), and I have to think that if Graham can get our RB's to show improvement in their technique and ability it will be a big factor with some of the RB's we have on our board. Not necessarily DH, but someone.

That being said, I hope that these technical improvements show up in the stats column, because I believe that is the way that recruits will evaluate our coaching. That falls on the OL as much as the backs themselves, but I do believe that I can see a difference already in the fact that we have a RB coach on staff, just in the way that the players are discussing their performances/the practices. They seem much more in tune with the attributes they need to work on, and how those factor into success.

agreed, Henry and other backs seeing that Graham has helped the backs there improve is a big plus.

I do think UT will give UA a great game, but again for me it will be who can outscore the other. UA's offense is setup to score 40+ a game. UA avg 35 points a game last year and overall a better O this year.

In regards to Belue, not worried this early and Ark will give a good indication. My concern is Millner who is banged up and hope he is fill speed for Ark. Our one weakness this season is depth at CB.

yeah im not sold on Florida, TW says they could be the team to beat and they have the players for D but UGA has a good D also and a more established offense, their only question mark was at RB and seem to have that answered somewhat with the 2 freshman especially Gurley, UF has issues at QB which will kill their chances. Brissett seems like the better option but Muschamp and company dont seem to realize it. UT's offense should keep them in contention in the east, the secondary (like Bama) is still a wait and see. I think both front 7s will be fine. Im sure bama will blitz more and play the safeties farther back against good passing teams except for Mizzou since they also have a mobile QB. that should limit the number of deep throws and helped the CBs alot. Sunseri will make adjustments as well

I think it's obvious that Henry is signing with UT. He was downgraded to a composite 4* on 247....and I'm kidding.

Arkansas is nothing like us. Their QB is scary after he gets hit. Bray will be there to win all night. We'll see if that offense of yours is built for 35 points a game. I know ours is and we may have the best player on the field athletically in CP when we matchup. I'll take Belue matched up on Hunter or CP all game long. Milliner will have his hands full at all times too. Plus we've got the best deep ball thrower in the country lining up under center. Hope you've got your lunch packed TW when you come to Neyland this year.

Like I said we will see in Oct. Lets hope for a great game and full strength(no injuries) coming in or going out.:toast:

I'm going to throw out an honest statement here. Too early in the season to be predicting October games/wins, but it is really nice to have opposing teams (Bama) fans come on here and say that the UT game has become a concern for them. The fact that it is even a conversation tells me that while we MAY NOT (still too early to tell) be back, we are at least almost there.

My prediction.....we are 5-1 going into the Alabama game. Would love to be 6-0, but that may be to much to ask, and hell, if we are 5-1, that will equal our total victories from last year. :)

he isnt visiting Bama for Ole Miss. Saban wants him to come to a bigger game and looks like he now plans to come to the A&M game (unless he verbals to UT I would think). For a while Henry has been saying he will have family in town and wont be going to Bama for OM.

My first post guys.. Bama fan but I enjoy the board layout and reading yalls opinions. Been reading the board for years. Not an insider at all , but I read the same boards RM20 and TW do so I have info I pay for.

I have a close friend that posts here but for his sake I wont point him out , haha. I dont like UT of course but I do respect Dooley FWIW. I will try to stay out of the way but wanted to explain myself if posting something.

Welcome to the board..enjoy yourself and be classy, which from the first impression I think you will!:peace2:

Welcome to the board. We have a few Bama posters on here. I personally welcome input from other teams fans.

As others have said stay classy. We have enough "Vol Fan" d'bags on here, but it's our board, so I guess they have the right.
