'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Per 247 -

Plans to make his announcement on Sept. 28 when his HS plays on ESPN. He wants to get to UT for the UF game on the 15th of Sept., and to Bama on the 29th of Sept. He's already been to UF and Bama games, so he knows what they are like, and he wants to know what UT is like. Bama is still #1. Him and DeMarcus Walker (Bama commit) talk about every other day. They got close over the summer. Henry adamantly stated that he and Laremy Tunsil will attend the same school.

It's becoming more and more obvious, IMO, where Henry is going. He stated in the article he's going to a Bama game the day after his announcement. His whole family is going to be in town for his announcement.

Wow, I wish he would be more vague about where he's going.

Well hopefully when we put on a great show and win the UF game.It ll give him something to think about before he commits to the "other school".

Remember last year when Dainel McCullers was supposed to be a BAMA lock and he visited for the awesome Vandy game and now he is wearing the orange and white! Might be the same outcome!!! As the little kid in Angels in the outfield would say "It could happen..."

Even if we miss on Henry, which will stink, we are still in on some very elite backs. We are going to get an elite back this year...whether it's Henry or not. The good news is that if we miss on Henry, then at least we won't have to tackle him from the RB position 20 times a game. He may get 8-10 touches at the most from the TE/H-back position. It still doesn't make sense as to why he is going to Bama, after typing this for the 20th time. Even if he gets moved, Bama also already has 2 of the top TEs committed. Truly, the rich keep getting richer.

The Vandy game did not seal the deal for McCullers. In Dec UA was still in the lead. Meaning after season. Come signing day if UA was still offering he may have commited to UT over UA but at that point he no longer had an offer from UA. Again Saban does not offer a scholarship to a JUCO who can not be an EE. Again UA went after him strong all the way into Dec with a visit from Saban and him taking an OV to UA but not being able to come in until summer and even rumors were it would be close. The only big offer he had when he commited to UT in Jan was UT.

Henry is a great athlete but unless he can control his weight and not grow, especially hard to do in a SEC S&C program he will not be a RB in my opinion. No matter what school he ends up at. But I have not seen one UA fan that wants Henry if it costs us Tenpenny or Jones. Even before Henry came into the picture UA was going to be worried about Ark and maybe the late push for Henry. Jones just did an interview and not worried one bit about him and UGA, even if Henry came onboard.

But CDD is playing the depth card. We already know that Henry likes UT. But Tenpenny and Jones have both said one of the schools recruiting them the hardest is UT. So for those that thinks the UT staff is not working are wrong. It seems CDD is playing every angle he can to get a top RB in this class and my bet is UT finishes with 2 solid RBs that can play in the SEC.

Now, TW, that last comment is much better sunshine-pumping info from you for those of us who like to wear the orange-tinted shades all day every day. Keep it up. :hi: :)

You are an all knowing person.I am so happy that you are willing to come to a Vol board and impart your vast and unlimited knowledge to us recruiting heathens.

Oh ok now I get what your saying. But I'm saying that that awesome visit didn't hurt.

Haha TideWarrior just admit The Midget lost out on a recruit...it's okay it happens from time to time.

Except it didn't happen here. He was all Bama until he could no longer be an early enrollee which caused Bama to lose interest in him. I think Bama will regret the decision but lets not kid ourselves, we were always second with McCullers and ended up coming out on top due to his first choice no longer being an option.

Who cares how it actually went down. McCullers is here, that is what's important..

Henry will make a good LB for Bama.. By the time he is running with the ones though UT will be much better and he wont be as much of a concern..

I just believe that if we get a recruit on campus anything can happen. To shut the door on a top flight kid, would save the University some change, but would certainly eliminate us. He may be all UA, and he probably has been since his decommittment, but let's not throw in the towel yet.

If this is true then he's going to Alabama. There's no chance he announces for Tennessee and then decides to official to Tuscaloosa one day later.

It'd be damn hilarious if he did, but it defies logic.

This certainly could be the case. RM20 has seemed pretty reliable with his info. He said Demarcus Walker was Bama bound a long time ago, and he was right. He also has said, along with TW, that Henry has been a silent to Bama for a long time...he will probably be right with this one as well.

Highly doubt he has been a silent.

Definitely sounding like he doesnt want to play RB early and often in college. Sounds like time to land Williams and Turman then call that a nice RB recruiting class.
