'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

its not just about playing right away, development is also key and thats something that draws Henry to Bama. also some of these kids that are destined for the NFL are ok with RB by committee because it saves their legs for a longer career. they are on the 3 year plan. the 2nd back gets plenty of touches and he knows that.

Is Alabama the only place where players develop? With his measurables, he could have a tremendous career at either school and reach the NFL.

You are correct, but I think coaching stability and program stability are the only difference right now. What has vs what could. If UT has a solid season 8 to 9 wins(may be better), UT will land a few NSD surprises. But the real benefit will be the 2014 class. I believe even BB has stated that as well.

And that is why I think UT is in his final group. He would come in and have a better shot at starting and being the feature back. UA has a pretty good track record for RBs while in college and going onto the NFL, but UT offers other opportunities that could bring greater rewards. That is the big difference right now. UA is a little more stable in regards to the staff staying around, not saying CDD is going anywhere but these recruits have to be hearing that and a little worried. Also UA has demonstrated what they can do with RBs. But UT has more potential but not a guarantee.

If UT finishes strong this year the 2014 class will be a great class for CDD.

I agree. We really need to beat Florida this year and at least play Bama close and not get blowed out.

CJG will get him ready for the NFL, no problem. Henry would be a more of a difference maker at UT than Bama for sure. He may do so well that we'll name a street after him. "Henry Way"

This season is going to catapult the 2014 class. Watch for a Top 5 class if this team stays healthy. Guys like Hunter, Bray, CP, Maggitt, AJ, Sentimore and McCullers(Mt.Cody impact) will be all over ESPN and attracting recruits. Then our tradition, facilities, and coaching staff will take over. Only move I hope we make after the season is getting rid of Chaney and promoting Hinshaw. Then bringing in another big time recruiter(Tee Martin).

Not saying he wouldn't be, but what makes you think Hinshaw would be a good offensive coordinator?

I liked how he called plays in the spring, he's also a former QB, and was a pretty smart QB. Most of your best Coordinators were either former QBs or QB coaches. I don't think he could do worse than Chaney. Who sometimes just calls shxt and it works because we've got good players.

Dream scenario: We do so well Chaney gets an NFL or head coaching job at a mid-major. Win/win.

That reverse worked because we had a freak running it. So it made the play look wonderful.

Exactly. Can't let people get it twisted. The players make him look brilliant sometimes. What frustrates me the most is his situational play-calling, i.e. 1st downs in the redzone. Just terrible sometimes.

I'm no big fan of Chaney's but now he's being criticized for calling a play that puts one of our best play makers in a situation where he can shine? Isn't that pretty much the job description?

are the same people that complained about our play calling being predictable in the past now complaining about it being schizo? i like the unpredictability of it.

Why does he run reverses/end arounds to the short side of the field? If I were trying to put a dangerous guy in space I want him with as much space as possible to operate. CP is just a freak of an athlete(so glad he's on our squad). He made about 2-3 guys miss then used his 10.33 speed to cut across the field.

True. I wouldn't mind. His play-calling is frustrating. Sometimes mind-boggling.

I agree with your earlier post. I just think Chaney loves the college game. Once we get our pieces in place, Chaney's offense should roll.

C. Patterson is a talented gentleman... and I can't wait to unleash him on the Gators. It's high time to break that ridiculous Florida win streak against us.

G O - - V O L S ! !

Cause most of the defense is on the strong or wide side of the field silly. And he did score. lol

If Dooley gets tired of Chaney's play calling he'll make a change at the end of the season.

First he has to get his RBs to execute the way he wants.

I loved to see him score don't get me wrong. But I thought defenses go strong and weak based on the offensive sets. Every defense I've played on always matched up that way. Sometimes the CBs get moved around based on the defensive system too. I hated to play the field CB. All that damn ground to deal with all game.

Going off of memory here but didn't the first guy he make miss happen about 10 yards down the field? I'd consider that a decent play design/call. Your point about CP being a freak is why it was 6 points instead of just a a good play.

Some guys may have gotten tackled 2-3 yards into the play. Go back and watch the play. Patterson is just a high flyer.

No. End around to the short side of the field. That's just contradictory to football logic. We were on the far left hash. That's doesn't make a ton of sense. Sure, he was going for misdirection, get the defense to start shifting.

It's one of those plays, if CP gets knocked behind the line of scrimmage, hypothetically speaking of course, then you're calling Chaney a doofus right now. Execution is nullified.
