'13 FL RB AJ Turman (UGA commit)

So is Turman being put on hold while the staff waits to see if Green is a Vol? Has it been said if Green is no longer being told he would be the only back taken in this class?(I thought I had read both Green and Henry was told that).

Pretty sure that all changed when Bourque left. The coaches are being upfront. Not sure why AJ doesn't just go ahead and announce.

I don't hate Bray at all. I am disappointed that he isn't more accurate right now and against better D's. But I love to watch him play.

I think he had a really solid mental game today which was part of my earlier criticism. He just had some bad throws. If he'd thrown it the way he's capable of then UT wins.

However, Driskell is developing quickly and isn't making alot of mistakes in the process. He's accurate and throws a nice tight pass with good velocity.

Bray would have a lot easier time if the D didn't put him in a deep hole. (See, e.g., AJ McCarron).

Hell you didn't watch us run for almost 200 yards on UGA Saturday.

Our fans are critical of Bray when he really has to go above and beyond to win games for us due to a defense that allows 51 points.

Guy can't be off and he's still a young QB based on experience.

Our offense is really growing though and we'll be able to run the ball on ANY defense we play this year. :)
Our offense is not to blame for our 2 losses. Bray's numbers go down against good teams because they are good teams. Put Murray or Driskell against their own defenses and I assure you their numbers would be below Brays

You're right. Those losses are squarely on the defense. We've made mistakes offensively but that's going to happen. The ones we've made defensively though have been game killers.

Florida game is on the whole team. Offense, defense, and coaching staff all blew it.

UGA game is on the defense even though the offense had a chance to tie/win the game twice.

Wow BB... We've changed seats.

I think UGA had too much O for the D at this point. CSS didn't call a great game nor did anyone play all that well... but you can chock it up to growing pains. Two qtrs were actually decent.

I lay alot of that loss on Bray. Some hammered Chaney for reasons I cannot fathom. He called a game that resulted in 37 pts against one of the most talented D's in the SEC and twice put his best players in a position to tie it up.

Bray blamed himself. I agree with Bray.... but hope he overcomes it and gets it done for the rest of the season.

The coaches seem to have diagnosed this one exactly as they should have. He was trying to do too hard rather than playing within the team. He went backyard and it cost him.

I lay the UF game on the coaches first and UT's big playmakers second. No one stepped up when needed on D. CP and JH both had failed opportunities to change the game for the better. Bray went backyard under pressure.

But the coaches really didn't seem to adjust or make corrections in game. The playcalling was less than spectacular with the run being abandoned way too early.

What are you talking about now???

I don't think that Bray tried to do too much in the Georgia game; he tried to do what he is supposed to do, execute the plays by getting the ball to skill players. Georgia is a good team, so their players had a thing or two to say about the outcome of the plays. Here's the thing; Bray threw a few bad passes and the receivers dropped a few very good passes. Those guys are never going to be perfect, but to win that game, they needed to play a little better. It was a disappointing loss, because the coaches did put them in positions to win the game.

Anybody that wants to give the defense a pass is crazy. 51 points and 578 yards of offense are not acceptable. How many points is Bray and crew supposed to score against the No.5 team in the country. That defense of theirs is legit and stepped up to close the game out. Blame Bray all you want but he played well for us. And leading us to 44 points against any defense is supposed to be a win every game.

I did not want to blame Bray, and I did not blame Bray. Nor have I seen "anybody" giving the defense a pass. So why are you making those false implications? The defense gave up way too many big plays, too many yards, and too many points. The offense is supposed to score as many points as it takes to win the game, period. Georgia's offense did that; ours didn't. It was a high scoring game; the defense scored a TD and gave the offense the ball multiple times with great field position on turnovers. Whatever their failures, the defense also made stops at the end of the game, giving the offense opportunities to score and win. That is what the offense is supposed to do, score and win. Are you seriously arguing that the offense is supposed to stop scoring after 44 points when they are behind by 7? No, they are not supposed to stop scoring; they are supposed to keep scoring, as many times as they must to win the game.

I don't know who to blame for this defense being so lousy. I just smh.

Why blame anybody? I hope the coaches and players don't waste their time doing that. I suspect they'll have the defense study film and ask them why they did it right when they did it right and why they did it wrong when they did it wrong, until the players understand very well the difference between doing it wrong and doing it right. Then they'll go through it all again on the field until the players get it right.

Sal is having some growing pains it's clear. It's also clear that we need more good players on defense.

Yes. And I don't see them in this class. We need difference-makers on d. AJ and Curt and McCullers are our only stars on defense. I'd even throw Eric Gordon's name into there. Byron Moore has picked balls off, he's been in the right place at the right time but everyone on d is to blame for those long runs.

You would've expected that to happen after the Florida game. Obviously whatever was addressed wasn't enough.

I'm excited to see what Bonner and Mcneil can do in the secondary. We are definitely lacking SEC speed there seems like FLA and UGA backs ran away from our guys.

Let's take this to the Football thread so we won't clutter Turman's thread anymore. :)

Exactly right. Dooley said he's never been as mad since he's been here as he was about all of the defensive breakdowns. People are saying that the players just aren't fast enough. But I don't think that's the problem with most of the fails.

Sentimore and McNeil might be in that group next year, and hopefully Bonner. We don't need the entire roster to be superstars, but 1 or 2 difference makers at each position can go a long way. We need one more on the DL and 2 or 3 in the secondary to be an adequate defense.
