I would. The dude can ball.

If you look at tape from Wilcox's defense you can see his potential. Then fast forward to Sal's and he was out of place and no one knew what the hell was going on.

Anyone can hate all they want but I stand by my thought.

Agreed. Everybody seemed to be out of place in Sal's defense.

Nice assessment. I forgot about Brewer. He is a man-child but will he ever find his niche. He didn't even play much last season did he? I know he can hit, but we need him to be active.

I would love to see Brewer at around 225 playing OLB in a 4-3. I think he could be very good there.

I'm a huge AJ fan but his cover skills are below avg. It's not about speed but about angles. He has to learn how to position his body better from the start. He'll have to become an exceptional player when it comes to reading plays and studying tape to make it in the NFL as a every down LB. Otherwise, AJ will be a LB that sees time only in high run situations in the NFL.

I don't know much about football defensive allignments. But having watched UT football the last two years, I'd say this guy pretty much nailed it.

The only thing he may have missed was adding, "the 3-4 is more about the athletes and you better have excellent ones and a defensive coordinator with half a brain or it will fail."

Sal had half a brain. The only problem is he continually used the other half...

AJ will improve in coverage this year. He should be coached up better at coverage but overall the switch to the 4-3 will help a lot. In the 3-4 a LB can be asked to do a lot of man coverage and will end up on an island. In the 4-3 AJ will see a lot more time in a short zone looking to knock anyone's head off going across the middle.

Yeah, Brewer would be "great" as a LB in pass coverage but isn't very good as a safety. He's already big enough and his speed would actually make him elite among LB's in that regard. I wish he had started at OLB and played there 4 years. No telling how good he might have been.

With that #50 he will look like an old school baller. Hopefully he plays like one. Think this guy will be a good one.

Definately NEW school. Heve seen him play a fair amount. Has all of the measurables, but I think that we will have to see how this transitions to on the field play at the next level. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
A couple of things I have noticed. He is a beast coming off the edge.....I think this is where he got his reputation. This kid is also tremendous in drills and no pads. It almost borderlines on silly. That's the upside. The downside. Watched a 180lb guard from rival apopka get into his body and kick him out and log him over and over again. Has a tendancy to, as someone else put it, wrap up like a bear on tackles. Have never seen him brutally hit a ball carrier, besides the qb that was standing still or running away. Especially head on tackles, he seems to not run through people running his way. I think that they will put weight on him and make him a 5. He is a great qb chaser. As far as being an old school linebacker....I don't see it.

As far as tackling goes, if you mean he wraps up and brings them down instead of trying to do the big blow up play, it would be an improvement over all the whiffing we usually see by our D last year. Good wrap up and getting them down at the spot is better than the big hit you get every once in a while but have the misses go for 20 more yards.

On the other hand, if he is just a whus and big SEC RB's will just run thru him, that will not work either. Hope he is going to be what we need. GBO

Now thaaaats funny.
Met a guy who played for Neyland this am. Said he was all american RB for a team in the 60s. Will take him at his word. He had some cool things to say about the days of ole. About the offense and how strong the defense was. I walked away realizing that I never got his name.....
Hope Corey does well up there. These kids have so much pressure and get so much press, there are lots of expectations. Its fun to see how they turn out.
They should have already put some weight on him. He will get stronger and faster. I see him playing......gasp......D END. If you watch his film at End.....then watch his film at LB. Realize he was 62 and 235 running a 4.6 40 and probably a 4.25 short shuttle. I dont see how, with those measurables, he didnt average 10-15 tackles a game at LB. I think he will get bigger, faster and make a name as a DE his sophomore to Jr year. But what do I know with a name like I am sportin"!
