I can't wait to see Zanca's film at MLB. Supposedly he's up to around 240lbs now.

I want to keep my comments and statements a bit more based on football skill which I have had the chance to evaluate in person or on a large sample size of film that I have reviewed. Just to keep my integrity and process of evaluations somewhat of value. After reading so many comments that seem to be negative without merit or unjust prays without backing or substantiated support. Earlier I found myself pumping Vereen up base on his interview skills and his ability to say the right thing. I do believe without really knowing him personally think this is a good kid. A guy you want to have in your locker room. He seems to be a smart kid a well or dedicated to his education based on his EE. Vereen has good size and some talent.

After watching this man child play in about 3/4 of a game live. I went home thinking I needed a bit more data on him. After reviewing all of Corey’s highlights this year. I can honestly say he a ability but tends to think too much. He has a hitch or delay step in half of his play. Stands up too straight and allows blockers to get inside of his chest. As a athlete with size in HS he is getting away with it but he will get exposed if he does not work on this in spring (a lot) it's not something that is very easy to just get better at the point of attack. Besides covering a receiver or running back in the slot it is the hardest thing to learn how to do. But the worst thing that scares me and some may disagree he is not nasty like a linebacker needs to be. Besides him rounding of his angle of attack he does not hit by leading with his face mask nor does he even use his shoulder pads often. I can honestly say in my opinion he may not even get injured if he played without them on... This may sound like a crazy statement but it tells me a lot. He is a huger a big teddy bear that does rap up and throws these boys he is playing against down hard, but at the next level the arm tackles and bad angles will be exposed by every good runner . If he stands up to tall at the point of attack and doesn't shed the block properly he will never see the field. I now I sound overly critical of the kid but it’s because he does have the intangibles to be a college football player. But he is very raw and needs to be coached up before he sees the field. I stated something I regret earlier when I said he could be ready by the fall because he has sizes, skills and time to learn as an EE. I was speaking out of school I see him as a red shirt that really may need the extra years. With that being said Sal knows his LB and this guy seems to be a good kid willing to learn. I hope I am wrong, Maybe his HS coach is clueless and does not see the rough edges. I may be overly picky but we are talking about playing at the highest level of college football. Corey Vereen better get lower, nastier, and start using his pads to hit somebody. Vereen is a talent but very raw and I hope is open to a lot of changes in his football mentality.

Your opinion is welcome, but please do your homework first. I know I had to look a lot deeper. As I will for any recruit that I evaluate unlike some of the clowns who are giving out stars based on how many offers from state schools a kid gets. I do my own homework and admit when I am proved wrong. But Corey better dig deep if he wants to be a run stopping middle LB. I missed all of this live by the way because he is such a presents. LOL and yes I do like this Central Florida boy and will pull for him. This is why I spent my time going to see him live and watching a few hours of film tonight. I hope he reads this and proves me wrong because he does seem like a loyal honorable kid. :popcorn:

so i live in winter garden near the school and havn't gone to see Cory play. i went tonight for the first time and here is what i saw bearing it was only one game and i am not a prof. recruiter.

he is a tall big man and we can build on his base. i agree that he is a bear huger and needs to find that mean streak that a lb needs. He had troubles to night shedding blocks and getting the linemen off his legs. is slow at reading plays and seeing all the angles but when he got to the ball the runner doesn't get away. pass coverage umm not great but he has time to learn this so i am not worried. he def. will not walk into camp and make a difference but in a yr after a red shirt and the right (sc) program he might be a really good player. he just needs to get mean to handle the sec.
west orange had a linebacker (44) i couldn't find his name but this kid undersized and has a great eye for the game. he was in the back field most plays but just an observation. with what i said i cant wait to see Cory play again it might just have been a tough night.

What are your thoughts on Tennessee commits Corey Vereen and Dominic Zanca and do you see either getting a bump in the next rankings release?

I think both prospects fit Tennessee's 3-4 defensive scheme. Vereen is an ideal outside linebacker that can put his hand on the ground and rush the passer on third down. Zanca has prototypical Mike linebacker size and strength.



Dominic Zanca has verbally committed to Tennessee.
Vereen has excellent speed off the edge and is very agile. He offers scheme versatility and in a 4-3 defense, he could be a solid end. The three-star 'backer has a great motor and plays with good leverage.

Zanca is bigger and is a powerful run stuffing MLB. He plays with a nasty streak and is quick to deliver a big hit on would-be ball carriers. He is a sure tackler and drives his opponent backwards on contact. He could slide down to defensive end depending on if he adds bulk and mass.

I feel both players are good additions to this class. I expect them to be key contributors for the Vols in the future. Of course, Dooley's fate may depend on the final three SEC games. They should be favored in all but one when they take on Vanderbilt on the road. A win against the Commodores will show recruits that Dooley has the program headed in the right direction.

What is your perception of Tennessee?? Would you believe they have lost 4 or more games 26 times in the last 52 years?

Ive sat in the stadium and lose at home to Vandy with UT haveing a lot more talent than they do now. Ive watched this team lose at home to Wyoming and on the road at Memphis. How about a hail mary pass to Bobby Graham to beat Memphis.

The problem is a good majority of Tenn fans became fans during the Manning years and EXPECT Tenn to be on that level year in year out, the landscape of college football in the SEC has changed since then. During the Manning years how many SEC teams honestly went into the season with NC hopes.....2 UT n UF. Now you have 5 the last few years, all of these states are where we recruit from Ga, SC, Bama,Fla. Just a different landscape.

Dont take it im happy with being 4 and 5, im far from it but i also see the big picture..4 defensive coordinators in 5 years, 4 different schemes, its a crap shoot. Talent on the roster is getting better for the long haul and to say it isnt just compare the last 3 classes to the 2 before it.

Talent is better but it's not good enough. Also the coaching is a major league problem right now. I have no faith in these coaches outside of Graham and Pittman.

TN/Dooley has recruited well, but it isn't good enough when you are still behind all of the top teams in your division and conference.. Defensively an upgrade of talent is apparent and the first step is acquiring a top passrusher

First step is acquiring a top Defensive Coordinator. Sal is just dumb as a coordinator.

Our D talent isn't elite, but it's at least average. They are performing far below their potential. We don't have All SEC talent, but it's better than 106 out of 120 or whatever we're ranked right now.

We don't have all SEC talent, but we do have some all SEC talents. Just need more.
