I believe we have all SEC level talent at every level of the defense...

Sentimore, McCullers and maybe even Couch are all at that level physically...so are Maggitt and Johnson...and I believe McNeil and Coleman have that kind of physical talent but they're young...and IMO you've got players that will be at that level by next yer like Gray, Bonner, Randolph and maybe players like O'Brien, Phillips, Lewis...possibly Vereen and Maybin if their EE status pays off...

Talent is not be issue IMO...we aren't Bam on D but we've got more than enough talent to be an above average D...so to see us be this bad knowin the talent that is there is especially frustrating

What is your perception of Tennessee?? Would you believe they have lost 4 or more games 26 times in the last 52 years?

Ive sat in the stadium and lose at home to Vandy with UT haveing a lot more talent than they do now. Ive watched this team lose at home to Wyoming and on the road at Memphis. How about a hail mary pass to Bobby Graham to beat Memphis.

The problem is a good majority of Tenn fans became fans during the Manning years and EXPECT Tenn to be on that level year in year out, the landscape of college football in the SEC has changed since then. During the Manning years how many SEC teams honestly went into the season with NC hopes.....2 UT n UF. Now you have 5 the last few years, all of these states are where we recruit from Ga, SC, Bama,Fla. Just a different landscape.

Dont take it im happy with being 4 and 5, im far from it but i also see the big picture..4 defensive coordinators in 5 years, 4 different schemes, its a crap shoot. Talent on the roster is getting better for the long haul and to say it isnt just compare the last 3 classes to the 2 before it.
preach it brother preach

You are right there is a lot of talent on this roster and it seems as if gradually its getting better and better. Heres the thing to think about thouh, competing in practice makes you better. Most of our starters were handed starting jobs, there was noone to beat or compete against when AJ was given the starting job. As the roster gets better and better the competition in spring/summer/fall will make tis team better. More guys will know whats expected of them

There lies the problem. Dooley should've brought in two guys on AJ's level to take his position. But he brought in 0 guys to replace him when messes up on a consistent basis.

Unfortunately injuries really hurt the linebacker corps in spring/fall. Lewis, Bynum, Harris all were going to play major mibutes this year

Funny thing is Harris was back and playing STs. Wonder why we didn't try to rep him in. Sal acted like the front 7 was irreplaceable.

"Corey is excited and ready to go," said Danny Vereen, whose son will enroll early at the Knoxville, Tenn., school. "As a matter of fact we were with Coach Hinshaw [UT wide receivers coach and Florida regional recruiter Darrin Hinshaw] , who was here yesterday, and he kinda let us know that something would happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"He's back on the plane now and he's hoping he gets to stay ... we're hoping he gets to stay."

CBJ and CJJ just left an in-home visit with Vereen. Corey said he's excited about CJJ's scheme and will be moving to Knoxville in January. Per Hubbs.

Boom.

He said his in home with coach Jones and coach Jancek went well. He admitted to being a little nervous before the visit, but like both coaches and found them easy to talk to and likes coach Jancek's scheme.

Vereen is ready to go and will move to Knoxville on Jan. 5th. Will have full story in a bit.

What Signu said, Boom.

"I was a little bit nervous," Vereen admitted. "I had never talked to them before. We never talked when they were at Cincinnati and then here they are at my house talking about how they are going to use me and what to expect.

"But once I started talking to them tonight I really felt a lot better about things."

"Coach Jones was good. You can tell he's really happy to be there and he's excited to have me joining him," Vereen said. "Coach Jones and coach Jancek said they spent all day Sunday looking at the commitments and making their own evaluation of us. And after watching all of my tapes they real really want me. It made me feel good that they weren't just taking me because the other coaches had taken me. They really want me there."

"Coach Jancek is an intense serious guy. You can tell that by talking to him," Vereen said. "We talked a lot about his 4-3 scheme and how he would used me in his system. We talked about outside linebacker in his scheme and he told me how I would get to use my pass rush skills as well as working in coverage. I like the scheme. That was big. I needed to know what the scheme would be and how I would be used."

"I'm more relieved than anything," Vereen admitted. "I have always been excited to get there. It's a great place in the SEC. I'm just relieved now that I have met coach Jones and coach Jancek.
