Great pick-up! He looks mean! Hate to say it, but he reminds me of Otha Peters. I think that he will blow up in the ratings during his senior year and all-star games, like Otha did. Now, we have to prevent the ending of the Otha Peters story.

It's not but I think Rivals makes sure they get certain prospects of certain teams right. It is what it is, if we want something to change then we better start winning.

I think the problem is they are not the best at evaluating talent. They have to also rely on the coacing staffs at the schools from summer camps and whatever. A kid may not be rated or a low 3 star. Hits the summer camp circut and by end of summer he has 20 offers and the services take a better look. Like what happen with A Cooper(WR) we just signed.

Remember they do an initial spring ranking, but the first reel ranking is after the summer. Mainly becaus ethey rely on the schools. Next it is after their senior season, based on performance(stats) and how many more offers they get or if the heat is turned up on recruiting him.

Alot of people get upset with the so called Saban bump, but in truth he has proven he can evaluate talent alot better than they can. I think before he would take a 3 star like M Ingram and the services would question it, now every time he offers or gets a commitment they take another look at that player because they do not need to have Saban show them they have no clue.

Once a coach proves they can evaluate talent and it produces on the field the services will take a better look at the recruits for that school.

These services rely more on the staffs at each school than the school does on the services inmy opinion. Follow a recruit over the summer that gets alot of praise from a school during summer camps and/or gets alot of offers over the summer. The services will soon follow with a better rating. Again just my opinion.

Pretty excited about this guy. He said he's 6'3'' and weighs 230 with a 4.6 40. That's pretty good

Yeah, except for the fact that Bama signed 9 three stars last year just like we signed 9 three stars.

They were secretly held to 3*s because Rivals and ESPN did not want to show their bias against UT

The are really all 5* players

Saban evaluated Sentimore before we did. But I guess his skill set dropped because we did his second evaluation. Come on TW, if they are running a site like that then they should be able to do their own evaluations. That's just letting somebody else do the grunt work.

Bump, just because it's been over an hour since anyone posted in this thread, and Vereen is awesome!:rock2:

so pumped about these early recruits. hopefully no more otha/dalton stories this year. i think with a solid 8-9 win season and we will look even better with these guys moving forward. i mean hell, we had a great class this past year and we got are arses kicked in the big games the recruits attended. key up some wins against florida and georgia, and we will set this class on fire. imo anyways lol.

Very little room, if any, for projects this class. We will sign less than 20. According to people who have watched him, he is a game day warrior. I'm very excited to have him aboard. He could get significant minutes by his sophomore year and definitely be in the rotation his freshman year if he truly is an EE.

The funny part is that even though you are absolutely right about this Rivals will swear to you with their hand on the Bible that offer lists have nothing to do with their rankings

I can't disagree with you on the overall job that Saban does coaching up his players. He gets alot of credit for evaluating high school players as well. My question is what happened with the 10+ players that are pushed out every year? They obviously did not meet CNS's standards. That's something that is never discussed.

It's not discussed because Saban wins...and...as Ricky Bobby said...winners get to do whatever they want

Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange linebacker Corey Vereen is very physically well put together at about 6-foot-1.5, 230 pounds. He doesn't just look the part, as he is also a playmaker.

He is very good off the edge, especially as a pass rusher. He has a quick first step, does a good job shedding blocks, and is very physical on the tackle. He does most of his work playing downhill, from the tackles and in, and running north-south. He is a bit of a tweener at the outside linebacker position but a perfect fit for a 3-4 scheme where he could come down at times and put his hand in the dirt or play with a bit of a running start to the edge while standing up.

One area where he is a bit of an unknown is with regards to how he would handle playing the pass away from the line of scrimmage. It isn't something that you can get a read for in watching his video.
