This guy is a need if we are going to run the 3-4 in the future. You need big guys that you can develop into good players. All Mobley needs to do is physically mature and get coached up some.

WTF....Just making a comment about the kid being raw. You don't like it then go to class and quit wasting your parents money sitting in the dorm surfing the internet. I played DL in college and was making a general comment about his technique being poor, but coachable. It's getting to the point where you can't post anything on this board without someone making smart a$$ remarks, or acting like they know more than you.

I agree. Too much immaturity, one upsmanship and just plain irrelevant crap by some posters.

BTW, thanks for the analysis.

Skeet, where does this guy stand on our board? It just seems strange to me that he's named us as his leader for a while, has no comparable offers, and hasn't committed yet.

This guy should be high on the board of a team that runs the 3-4. Perfect big guy to develop.

Mobley described the Vol camp as "great," adding: "They pushed us without being a butt-hole about it. They just pushed us."
Mobley thoroughly enjoyed his first day in Tennessee's camp, noting that the coaches "just keep it completely honest with you. They don't sugar-coat. They praise you when it's good and tell you when it's bad. They treat you like the young man they're trying to raise you to be in the future."

He was so impressed with the Vols that he considers them his early leader.

"As of right now, they're right there at the top, No. 1," he said. "Don't get me wrong: There's other schools I've got to visit. But, as of right now, they're No. 1."

Is this kid a hold off unless someone higher on the board doesn't commit?

I'll trust Coach Palermo on this one. Unfortunately, if Mobley plays any better this season then we'll be up against other offers.

Hey Rote, go do a purple hooter shooter.

From ESPN:

Mobley is a big bodied presence inside as a defensive tackle. He has plenty of size and even looks a little bigger bulk wise than what he is listed at. He is a taller kid who looks to possess a nice reach and with some potential reworking of his body composition and if done properly he could add even more size to his frame. He has just a solid get-off and is not a penetrating disruptive force. He can clog things up inside and with his sheer size he is tough to move off the ball. When he shoots his hands and uses that reach and creates separation he not only clogs things up, but he can also make the play when action comes his way, but he needs to use his hands better and more consistently get extension when he engages a blocker. He displays a tendency to pop up and play tall and must work to keep his pad level down. Displays marginal short-area change-of-direction skills. He is a pocket collapsing bull rusher versus the pass when he can stay low and bring his hands, but when he gets tall and lacks in technique he doesn't provide mush pressure. Mobley is a big dude who can make his presence felt in the heart of the trenches, but needs to keep developing his game and play with better technique so he is not just be a big body, but big bodied football player.

I get the feeling he's waiting on an offer from one of the big Florida schools.

"Coaches-wise, they don't lie to you. They keep it real. Full, 100-percent honest with you. I like that about them," Mobley said. "The stadium is cool. It's not too country, but it's not too city. It's a good balance to keep me out of anything as far as trouble. I like the balance of it."

"Right now, they're on top," Mobley said. "Just the vibe. They're good people. Don't get me wrong, there are other schools out there and I haven't hit them, but as of right now they're on top."

"Before the season," Mobley said of when he'd like to decide. "I don't want to be the guy that's waiting and trying to make it a big showcase. Just straight and to the point.

Mobley, Bradley, T. Johnson, and Carr wouldn't be a bad outing at all for 2013. I wouldn't mind taking one more if we could.

Add Crayton and for the first time in half a decade we finally have quality depth across the trenches.
