If he wants to follow in the 1st rounds paths of Peterson, Claiborne, Kirkpatrick he needs to play physical at the line of scrimmage. This isn't your daddy's SEC.. finesse corners still have their place but if you want to be a true lock it down corner you better be able to control the line of scrimmage. Not every down is going to be 2nd or 3rd and long.. he will more than hold his own in those situations. It is those 2nd and 5s and 3 and 4s where he better be physical at the line of scrimmage with a wideout like Croom if he wants to stay on the field. I say the same about Bonner or any other SEC DB. But I get what you are saying also.
Oh I agree with you. I think UF bottoms out this season then recovers. I'm not exactly sold on Muschamp, but he's recruiting very well. Now we need some linemen.
I just don't agree with the "if we don't beat Florida. this year who knows when we will" sentiment
We're likely a better team in 2013 unless everyyyyyone leaves
Kid is a better CB than Dre. I'll say that right now. Did you really watch Claiborne? He didn't jam a lot of guys. Watch him closely dude. The pick he got against us this year he just bodied Rogers up downfield. If VH3 sits on the inside on those 2nd and 5s or 3rd and 4s this kid will be fine. Did you watch what happened to the Honey Badger for trying to get too physical with Rogers? Backfired in a bad way. All he has to do against a big WR is play angles. Big WRs want you to jam them so they can put you on their hip and dictate the action. By playing about 3 yards off you can sit on some routes without giving up a huge cushion. Dude go watch the Mich. State CB Johnny Adams, he's a fine smaller CB that knows how to play the game and make big plays.
Claiborne can get away with that cause he is naturally a big dude. I used him as an example cause he can press (when needed) and play down field. Same for Dre. Not saying VHIII can not do those things but he doesn't have the natural build as those guys. And let the guy play a down in the SEC before you say he is better than a first round talent. Remember Brent Vinson? I know all about Johnny Adams, great DB. I even think he would prosper if he played in the SEC. Hell, I think VGIII will too. Look at Asante Samuel, another great corner but he is a system guy.. thats what I see VGIII as.. JMO.

My Gator buddy hates Muschamp and wants him fired after this year coming up. He wants Jacoby Brissett off the team as well. For some reason he's walking on egg shells around me these days. Lol
According to WiseOldVol, unless you have 6-5 shutdown corners on both sides, your defense sucks.
Dude Dre Kirkpatrick can't cover PERIOD. When has he shut someone down? What about his ball skills? What about him turning and running downfield with a WR(Andre Dubose killed him)? Dre was just in a weak draft and played for Nick Saban. There are quite a few CBs that would prosper in the SEC. I blogged about the Top CBs in the country here recently. Most of the list isn't even from the SEC. I think every one of those guys can play at a high level in this league.
I don't like Dre as much as the next Tom, Dick, or Harry.. but to say he can't cover is a bit of exaggeration, although I will say he was overrated at Bama and benefited from his DL and LBs.. but he isn't quite chopped liver. His biggest selling points were his intangibles.
Who did he cover well? Tell me please...... Also what kind of ball skills does he have? He panics when the ball is in the air. He will PI like it's nothing. He got to Bengals mini camp and they were teaching the kid how to backpedal. I wish he had played in a passing league.
He ain't the best CB in the country HG. But he's damn good. Don't know if he's the best in Florida this year(Mack IMO).
You are right dude he sucks (big time), was drafted and signed to a lucrative contract in the first round of the NFL draft because of Saban (despite being busted for kush weeks before the draft). Respectable publications around the country all unamiously voted him All American honors, Second team All SEC, Finalist for the Thorpe Award, all while never being able to cover a damn soul. Guess all those writers and coaches and NFL talent evaluators should have picked up the phone and called Breakerboy first.
You obviously didn't watch the Alabama/Arkansas game last year. Dude was everywhere.

and every newepaper in fl has him ranked #1 in Nation and in Fl. UT maybe the only staff that would take Mac over VH3 is it was down to the last 'ship. The kids goes to every camp and combine to compete...where has Mac showed up to? But I'm not going to try to change your mind...I know you like Mac
He was everywhere huh? Come up from zone coverage hitting WRs in crossing routes. They go man coverage one time and Cobi Hamilton Mosses on him. Dude Javier Arenas was an All-American and he barely covered over 10-15 yards deep for Saban. You'll see this bust.
Like I said I think VH3 is a much better CB prospect.
