This guy looks like he can press J Croom at the line of scrimmage.

Hahahahahaha SIKE!

He's not going to press Croom. He's going to play around 3-4 yards off of him and use footwork to cover him. All he has to do is get position and make Croom play through him all game. Easier said than done but this kid can do it.

I know you think we'll have a huge dropoff but starting a freshman at CB early in the year is still not good. We'll have a bit of a dropoff but not as much as you think. Croom, Patterson, Howard, and Bowles will be a decent WR corps at worst. I think Patterson and Croom will be major matchup problems if they play up to their potential.

SN: Gator fans what do you guys plan on doing on offense in 2013? Our entire defense will be back led by a pair of 3rd year starters at LB(AJ and Maggitt). Our CBs won't be slouches either(Bonner, Coleman, Tino, and Gray). The safeties will be nice too(Randolph, Moore, and McNeil). And the entire D-line will be back too. We're going to come out and get right up in your ish. Who are going to be the difference makers on your offense down there? Better yet who the hell will be the QB?

Whoever our QB is in '13, he'll have a full season of playing experience under his belt, a back-up breathing down neck for PT, and familiarity with the system. That's about as positively as I can spin it right now.

I just want to survive this season.

Screen passes and quick slants? Croom got trucking ability I assume?

Not every time he's not. Show me a stud SEC corner and I'll show you a corner who plays physical on top of tremendous footwork.

You want to throw quick screens against a smaller quicker player? What about a quicker guy who's looking to jump a slant route? Watch Texas vs Texas A&M last year. Carrington Byndum shows you how to take a big WR(Jeff Fuller) out of the game. Croom would be best used on deeper intermediate routes. Where he can really body him up. Also some good deep balls where he can really use his length.

What about your WRs?*chuckles* we're going to bust that azz for a few years Gator. Doesn't look like you'll have a good QB for years looking at your 2013 class. Payback MOFOs!!!!

Antoine Winfield played off coverage his whole career(one of the most physical CBs you'll ever see). Like I said this kid doesn't have to press Croom all game. And playing off coverage doesn't mean you aren't playing physical. You can still be physical without jamming a guy.

Ah, LSU SEC championship game all over again :scare:

It's a shame VH3 will never gain another pound or put on an ounce of muscle between his upcoming HS senior year and August 2013 when he reports to UF for fall camp.

I'm not that stupid. I do know he won't be 6'6 230lbs of Muscle(J.Croom). That's a big boy to deal with at WR. And he plays big on the jump ball too.

If he wants to follow in the 1st rounds paths of Peterson, Claiborne, Kirkpatrick he needs to play physical at the line of scrimmage. This isn't your daddy's SEC.. finesse corners still have their place but if you want to be a true lock it down corner you better be able to control the line of scrimmage. Not every down is going to be 2nd or 3rd and long.. he will more than hold his own in those situations. It is those 2nd and 5s and 3 and 4s where he better be physical at the line of scrimmage with a wideout like Croom if he wants to stay on the field. I say the same about Bonner or any other SEC DB. But I get what you are saying also.

This is Volnation, there are quite a few gurus here who even think our players won't improve year to year. Let alone a gator.

I blame the water they drink.

Didn't say that either chief. But Patrick Peterson he is not.. nonetheless good pick up.. but I would choose Vonn Bell over him. To each their own gator.

Haha, Ok Mr. Eternal optimist. Call me when your boy Palardy can lift one over the center's azz and I'll give you credit for that one.

I missed where I compared him to Patrick Peterson or Jim Thorpe. Bottom line is the kid was coveted by many, and we were fortunate he chose us. Hopefully the commitment sticks.

You misspelled Gator btw.
