'13 FL ATH Lemond Johnson (UT Commit 12/16/12)

You can be a good evaluator of talent and be a bad coach. You mentioned a couple of ways he wasn't a great coach, but I think we have SEC talent on the team.

Offensively, you're right. Defensively, we are light years behind the elite SEC teams. Our defensive team speed is Big-10ish.

Nearly certain palardy was committed to lane.

If dooley was such a great evaluator, why did he keep him? Vincent Dallas, Justin Coleman, Jacques Smith, Maurice Couch, Mccullers, and Sentimore were all evaluated by Dooley and all have done virtually nothing.

Hell let it go. We could name just as many that have been darn good. This subject matters not.

so all those guys hard after palardy are **** evaluators? give it a rest, man. speed and personnel played a role, but coaching and scheme was what turned our defense into liquid poopoo last season.

We had 4-3 personnel, but switched to a 3-4. We had a D-coordinator who hasn't called plays since 1999, at Alabama A&M. Yeah, we had way bigger issues.

Yeah we had bigger issues, we also didn't have the level of players we need due to Dooley's awesome evaluations and recruiting.

You guys keep responding to me, so I'm gonna defend my position. Dooley was bad at everything, scheme, recruiting, evaluating, playcalling, you name it.

The year before we were 28th in the country. It's logical to say if they were in the same D last year they would've been equal or more probably, better. We would have beaten some more teams. Of CDD had been a good coach, he'd seen the improvements we were making and either fought to keep Wilcox or kept the same scheme. This is a main area of his multiple deficiencies.

Give us (insert NFL kicker) and we are still 7 wins at best. So what's your point?

My point is that people are defending dooley's eval skills, when he wasn't a good talent evaluator. Why was Teague playing when it was a universal thought that Bonner was our best lockdown corner?

Jacques was an EE under Kiffin. Palardy and Darr were also Kiffin commits.

Because Bonner didnt have the mental part down. If Dooley didn't evaluate talent well, you must be ready to jump off a cliff because you must think we have WAC talent all over the field. I disagree with you sir. You can dislike Dooley but the one thing he could do is tell who could play in the SEC.

bonner was potentially our best lockdown corner. doesn't mean he's ready to come in and do it as a freshman in the SEC. He may be ready to do it this year. A good DC and improved coaching/scheme will be a BIG factor in our success this year... just like it was the biggest factor in our failure on D last season.
If those players are so bad, why did Wilcox have success on D? And Jancek will have success, too. but oh well.

We surely don't have SEC talent on the field. Our WRs were asked who our best lockdown corner was, they said Bonner, but Dooley let Teague go out there and get torched every play.

The young guys weren't ready man. 1 on 1's in the summer are not the same as the real deal on Saturday afternoons.

Well then, we'll agree to disagree. A switch back to a 4-3 and more cover 2 and I think you'll be surprised. If course guys like Johnson , JRM, Sills and Jones will help out.

Dooley never gave him a chance. Teague sure as hell wasn't ready, a blind mouse could see that, why not put Bonner in, he couldn't have done any worse.
