'13 CA JUCO Kris Comas

I totally disagree with all of this. Why do you trust Dooley more than the majority of coaching staffs? That doesn't make sense. He has a losing record as a head coach both at and prior to Tennessee. I'm not saying he can't be a good coach but there is nothing he has done yet that would ever make me say I trust him more than other coaching staffs, especially successful ones.

And how can you say they have done well with under the radar guys? Just because some have gotten PT? Even if they are getting PT they have still been getting PT on sub .500 teams. If anything that tells me 1) The higher rated guys they are beating out were overated coming out of high school 2) the under the radar guys are playing to their talent level and nothing more and 3) Tennessee needs to recruit at a much higher level.

Agree with all this. Also, I understand taking a big time JUCO defensive lineman or wide receiver to fill some holes, but seems like we are focusing too much on the JUCO ranks (aside from T. Johnson).

So did we get a commit from this kid or what. Rivals has him open and Scout says we got him. Which is it?

He committed to the staff in the Spring but his dad wanted him to hold off on going public until the got some answers from the staff about a few last minute questions. Pretty much a done deal unless something goes haywire.

I haven't heard anything about that or a timeframe. His dad might have simple questions like what color is the new locker room? or it may be something like are you going to get fired? Who knows.

Not sure why Tennessee would take a commitment from him so early.

I think this has been the general consensus since the news that he committed. My question was more so related to the timing portion of the decision. I was under the impression that Derek Dooley did not particularly like signing Juco players. He certainly has taken an interest in them since his hiring.

it would be hilarious if he got offered by oregon then decommited just to see everyone bash dooley after bashing this kid since his commit..the vol fan way...the kid has skills and can play slot which we are in desparate need of next yr

Dooley has done this before. Power, Parker, Henderson, The WR from GA last year. If they are able to put together a good recruiting class I would expect at least a few of these marginal early commits to end up elsewhere come signing day.

Comas is just a matter of time, honestly. I think Tennessee already considers him a commitment. With Garland, it's different because of the charges.

I can't imagine we will take 2 JUCO WR's?? & if we only take 1 I want Jatavious Stewart.

I think with getting Harris today, Tennessee just stops recruiting Comas all together. We are in the running for better prospects at that position. Personally I don't understand what they saw in Comas in the first place. They may go after him again if they strike out on some other prospects.

Agree on all accounts. He may be a plan C or D option if they miss on a bunch of guys. Other than that I imagine he's even down the list among JUCO WR's.

According to a poster on VQ the Santa Monica paper is saying Kris Comas is academically ineligible to play at his JUCO. I'm trying to find a link but haven't found one yet.

If that's the case, he won't be a Vol. PF on VQ thinks that after we took Josh Smiths commitment the staff lost a little interest in Comas. Saying he basically took Comas' place in the "slot".

Not good if you can not stay eligible at Juco.
