Very odd take IMO. This is a lot like some of the early takes the last few years under Dooley. I just dont get some of them. This is the SEC, you cant beat out WAC schools for kids and expect to ever make any kind of consistent move towards to the top of this league.

Yeah, you are right. UT should offer Usain Bolt why they are at it. And the whole UT track team. Then UT would have a perfect WR group. All over 6 feet and run a 4.4 forty. It is so simple, why didn't UT think of this before? Hell, if I can shave .1 off my forty time I can play WR at UT too.

It doesn't matter his height and 40 time. Athletes like that aren't that rare. Kenny O'Neal had those measureables and didn't amount to anything at UT. WRs also HAVE to be able to run great routes and be able to catch the football.

Dooley and company have done pretty well on under the radar guys, so just trust that they know what they're doing, sit back, and relax.

I totally disagree with all of this. Why do you trust Dooley more than the majority of coaching staffs? That doesn't make sense. He has a losing record as a head coach both at and prior to Tennessee. I'm not saying he can't be a good coach but there is nothing he has done yet that would ever make me say I trust him more than other coaching staffs, especially successful ones.

And how can you say they have done well with under the radar guys? Just because some have gotten PT? Even if they are getting PT they have still been getting PT on sub .500 teams. If anything that tells me 1) The higher rated guys they are beating out were overated coming out of high school 2) the under the radar guys are playing to their talent level and nothing more and 3) Tennessee needs to recruit at a much higher level.

Once again I agree w/ you MH.

But I also think we all can admit that Dooley has upgraded the roster significantly since he stepped on campus.

I agree that he's upgraded the roster. I still dont think people realize just how truly bad the roster was going to be for at least a few years post-Fulmer. He had the two worst recruiting classes I've ever seen at Tennessee in 06 and 08 where he and his staff landed only around 4 or 5 4-stars and a few of them were major risks from the get go.

Exactly. Our OL & DL were severely depleted in talent & depth. Heck in Kiffins first year we had 2 walk-on OL starting, now look at the depth & talent on the OL. & what Dooley has done w/ the DL is remarkable. He still needs to add talent & depth at LB & DB though.

I agree with what you've been saying. Some of the commitments we take early in the process are just weird. I'll never forget the Andrew Power commitment simply because it came out of nowhere and that kid is now nowhere.

However, I think rational people here can all agree that CDD and his staff's ability to evaluate talent is very sound. He has significantly improved the roster as a whole.
