'13 AL RB Johnathan Ford (no longer a Vandy commit)

opportunity yes, but most probably did their homework and looked at our oline depth after this year. We will be young, inexperienced, and questioned there next year. I don't see big time backs this year jumping at the chance to spend their 2 money years behind a question mark.

Very good point. This has been a trend for a while though.

WJOX in Birmingham had Ford on earlier today. He complemented both schools and said that his decision was tough. After the interview, the recruiting guy said that he was 95% sure Ford was Auburn bound.

It's easy to try read these signals and try to put a positive spin on things but if you step back and try to be objective and look at things logically (the Bruin doctrine) unfortunately all signs point to Auburn for Ford. JMO.

Does that recruiting have any thoughts on the winning lottery numbers for this week?

You are contradicting yourself here. You can't promise a kid he is the only RB and then offer another to hedge your bet unless he is willing to keep silent which didn't happen.

I'm not contradicting myself. I said we may have promised him he would be the only back IF he committed early. Since he didn't, we were basically forced to pursue another rb too.

So Auburn DOES get their back-up plan.

Well the cream can rise to the top and if it's anything less it will settle to the bottom.

The one thing that has stuck in my head with ford and i am suprised nobody has mentioned is his response a couple days ago to someone asking if he is going to tennessee. He said naw. I will let everyone know on signing day. Or very close to that. I feel the naw was a slip he didnt catch. If he knows the vols are his choice the response would have just been to say letting ya know on signing day. Maybe i am over analyzing things though :p

Probably a pretty good catch. That's the kind of slip Green made when he tipped his hand before he announced to Michigan. Keep in mind this is a very draining experience for these kids. It's got to be hard for a 17-18 year old kid who has never had this level of attention to keep their guard up at all times.

We need some dads in TN pushing sons toward UT like Ford's dad pushing his son toward the in-state school.

Taking an unofficial on 2/2 is the nail in the coffin for Tennessee, imo. Unless, he felt like he needed to tell the AU staff in person that he was choosing the Vols...but that's highly unlikely. Hoping to be surprised...but I won't be shocked to lose him. We made a good run at him at least!

You are saying exactly what I am saying. We offered lee as soon as we found out he wouldn't commit. The kid admits he made a decision yesterday which happens to be exactly the same day we offered another RB. You can't have it both ways. If he was told he would be the only RB which you say is true then lee tells us its over.
