'13 AL RB Johnathan Ford (no longer a Vandy commit)

That we do. I would just like to see us win some recruiting battles, especially at RB. Waiting for kids to be recruited over or asked to look elsewhere by other schools so we can pick them up late is getting old.

Dooley and company had Turman but wouldn't accept his commitment for whatever reason.

Yeah, but whoever we get will share carries with Neal and Lane, so I doubt that's it.

I think other coaches have a good, negative spin on UT right now that is working. Constant coaching turnover, losing seasons, coach hired that a chunk of the fan base didn't want, havent placed a running back high in the draft in a long time, unreasonable fanbase, etc.

CBJ will do ok with this class. What he really needs to focus on is turning around the narrative of Tennessee. It shouldn't be that hard. Our facilities and tradition are up there with anyone in the country.

None of these recruits care about tradition more than 5+ years ago. We need a few winning season to show we can get back to that level. Yes we have nice facilities, but some are lacking like hart has stated. Every elite school has the same facilities or close. Winning is the cure.

Didn't I just read "I'm still committed" from Ford? How is Vandy not the favorite?
Trying to trick our own minds doesn't make something happen.
Sometimes fact is stronger than fiction.

Yea Yeldon was still committed to AU last yr going into the dead period and enrolled in Ala as an early EE. It means nothing right now.

This is right on point. Also Vonn Bell would have been a Vol if was showed some attention. But CDD did not return his calls and when his Hs coach sent highlight film to CDD he did not follow up then either

Brilliant:crazy: So if a good player is told to look elsewhere and the staff thinks he can contribute, don't take him? Cut off your nose to spite your face, huh?

Did my post say not take them? No, it did not. It said I would actually like to see our coaches WIN some recruiting battles. Landing a kid who ran out of options is fine, being his #1 choice tends to make me think he really wants to be here and will give his all while playing.

Didn't our coaches just win a battle with Saban for Jason Carr? I think you know that, so why do you act like you don't?

New Hope (Ala.) Rivals250 running back Johnathan Ford is committed to Vanderbilt, but that didn't stop him from taking an official visit to Auburn this weekend.

"My visit went good, it was a great experience to meet Coach (Gus) Malzahn and the staff. It felt real good," Ford said.

Ford spent time with Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and receivers coach/co-offensive coordinator Dameyune Craig. The style offense and matching Ford's style was discussed.

"It was great. We talked about the offense and they laid everything out for me," Ford said.

Ford was originally scheduled to visit Miss. State this weekend, but trekked to the Plains instead. Ford, the Commodores pledge, was hesitant in his response to describe where the Tigers stood following the visit.

"Auburn is real good," Ford said. "That's all I'm going to say. I'm still committed though."

Ford will return home and talk with his parents to discuss his next move.

Glad we're on the same page with this one. In a perfect world we win all recruiting battles. But until we can start winning again, we may have to take some second choices and coach them up. Maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 second choices will turn out better than choice #1 or some can fit our system or certain needs better than our competitors. Aim for the top, "work like heck" to get them and if we don't get the best of the rest.
