Dude. I'm glad I didn't paint it. I would have destroyed those guys after all that hard work that was done. It is insane they care so little about the football team to do that. Sorry, rant over.

Honestly though I'd go back there and paint over it. Just a layer thrown on it. Screw those guys for seeing u paint it finish it and cover it right after. Screw "culture night". That crap can be left for after NSD...

Well the saudi boys should be clubbed like baby seals. There are other ways to have a "culture" night than having a pissing contest over a rock. The rock's culture was around way before their culture started infiltrating our society.

I wonder if the Saudi boys understand that their culture will fall apart and melt into American culture the longer they are here? If they did they would have respected the rock and what it means to UT sports programs. I am sure they will get an earful.

So now not only do we have to have a committee to raise funds for the rock and to paint it, now we have to take shifts and guard the rock? haha Here's a culture event for them... learn about the freaking culture you're living in now! And don't mess with the rock during recruiting season!

I've been fighting it, but I must acknowledge that our chances of landing Kirven are pretty good. To say the in-home visit went very well, is an understatement of epic proportions.

they did exactly what the rock is for. That's why all this effort can easily be for nothing. Not everyone on UT's campus cares about football and even if they do many don't know when "recruiting season" starts or ends.

Very true. Someone mentioned those kids "getting an earfull" - I guarantee not one of them had any clue of who Korren Kirven is, much less why the rock was painted that way, and you're kidding yourself if you think anyone informed them of such. It sucks in this instance, but the idea that the rock can be used to freely advertise for anything campus/Knoxville related is one small piece of the excellent tradition that is UT.

Thanks again to whoever painted it originally though - great effort and thank goodness you got picks, it looks awesome. Might even be worth emailing to UT's media relations guy, I'm sure he could pass it on to Korren when/if he makes another visit.

Agreed. If he was sold on VaTech, the parents wouldn't be trekking to Knoxville. Clearly he likes UT a lot and from that evidence likely favors them. Now it's mom and dad's turn to check it out and see what UT has to offer.

They are no longer visiting today, dad couldn't get off work. But they have been to Knoxville twice already with Korren.
