'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

I agree 100%...I feel like I have a good pulse on this one. His parents wouldn't just come if TN isn't a major player here. I have no doubt in my mind that Dooley and Sunseri will absolutley floor the Kirven's and that they will leave TN will full approval of their son going to TN.

Kirven will go quiet and will shock the world when he picks the Vols over Bama and in state VT.

Dealing with parents selling the off the field benefits is the setting that DD shines the brightest IMO. I am willing to say he is our to lose at this point.

There's a difference between Kirven having interest in UT and UT being the leader. VT is the leader and everyone else is trying to steal him on NSD...UT included.

I actually heard he was a VT silent also....

His parents making the drive to UT is a good sign because we're obviously either #1 or #2 for him right now, but I still think VT in the end.

I hope I'm wrong though for sure.

Keep in mind that Autry was a silent to us and switched at the eleventh hour. His parents driving down to campus definitely confirms we are a major player in Kirven's recruitment.

I just don't see it this way anymore. I guess I am forgeting that all three of them are going to VT this weekend. I guess that is the wild card...he could very easily just go with what is comfortable.

More worried about Bama than Tech here. Just don't see how Bama has room for him though, but then again, Saban isn't afraid to tell another recruit to move over. In any case, you have to like Tennessee's chances here.

VT just like cam clear and Richardson ended up choosing UT. We made a good push but he will stay in state.

Did Cam's or Tiny's parents ever make a trip to other schools w/o them? It's 8 days before NSD and Kirven's parents are making a 10 hour trip to check out the Architecture program at UT. You don't see the significance in that?

Someone asked Hubbs if he has ever heard of a recruit's parents ever making a trip to a school without their son...

Someone else mentioned it and great recall by the way but yes McClain's mom (OL from Alabama) went to Clemson by herself. He ended up a Tiger.

JMO but does anyone find it odd that we have seemingly given up on Shelton? I like what Kirven woul bring to our team, and in no way am I saying that we shouldn't take him if he wants to be a Vol. But we have signed numerous D-linemen already and IMO there are still question marks in the secondary at SS and CB. I presume Waggner will be moved back to CB, but I was not satisfied by Brewer's play at SS before his injury. It is time to explore other options e.g. Shelton.

I do like our chances here though. Selling the family on UT benefiting a kid's future is right in Dooley's wheelhouse.

Bottom line:

VT is the favorite here. Always has been. Anything but VT would be an upset.

Most around him feel Bama is sitting in 3rd.

We are pushing hard and have a decent chance. If Dooley can sell the parents on academics, VFL program, and life outside of football, we have a very real chance.

He's not a silent to anyone. He wants it to be a surprise to everyone on NSD.

I'm sorry, but how can someone not see the significance in a set of parents, who would not visit with their son on his OV, all of a sudden coming on their own dime to see the academics and everything else associated with UT. How you can come to any conclusion that Kirven prefers anyone else but UT is ridiculous. It's obvious the parents are the ones that are needing the final convincing.

I think the Bonner commit closed the door on Shelton IMO.

Good info, but we do have to feel we are in the game when his parents are going through the effort to make the trip to Knoxville. That speaks volumes as to how serious of a contender we currently are right now.

He was spot on about randy Shannon getting signed friday then Monday then the nextnew friday. And he was right about steele oh and how can we forget the new assistants that were going to be hired a couple days ago.

Lets not forget the 3 musketeers or 3 amigos or whatever they were.

Whoever paints the rock, remember it's only his parents that are coming. Your target audience is not an 18 year old kid. Just something to think about.

Yes. We are in the game. Kirven keeps everything close to his chest. I believe, and so do most around KK, that it's down to UT and VT. Could be wrong, but that's the vibe. But make no mistake, VT has always been the favorite, the home team, and the school that most around him will push him toward.

Will Sunseri be there? I thought he was visiting Santos again on Wednesday, but I could have my days mixed up I suppose.
