False! Even if he picks Texas, he will be a benchwarmer as a DE.

Not that the Texas coaches couldn't have told a little fib or two, but didn't Santos say that Diaz told him they had one spot left and it was Santos' if he wanted it? I can't remember for sure, but I thought he, Santos, was quoted as saying that.

His dad is pushing him hard to Texas, that is a fact. His dad also told the Tennessee coaches Dalton would be attending Texas, that was the day Dalton was offered bu Texas, his dad made the call to the coaches. Dalton has never told Tennessee he would be attending Texas, he may after this weekend, but hasnt as of yet.

Dalton should honor his commitment and go to OSU because that's where he committed first, right? It wasn't a big deal when he decommited from them to commit to Tennessee but now he's such a bad kid because he is doing what you were ok with the first time?

If this is true I actually hope the kid wants to attend Texas. That would be horrible to be in that kind of situation with your own father. I wish that on no kid. Kinda sucks for him if he does want to go to the real UT. He losses either way.

Ive been trying to catch up on all the potential recruits with it being so close to NSD but it just seems to me like we have been recruiting him too long for him to switch. Even if he does at least we got Otha. We could really use him in this class though. Everything that I have read makes me think he is a high character guy that would be good for the locker room.

I hope he will attend the school he want to attend, not the school his DAD wants him to attend. that being said, I hope he chooses the VOLS!!!!

So lame. This is Dalton's decision. He's the one working hard. He's the one on the field. He should be able to make the choice on where he wants to go to school. If that is Texas...so be it. But his Dad should not be making that decision for him.

I would really like for dalton to be a vol. That being said, I keep seeing people say that playing in the sec would get dalton ready for the nfl better than the b12 and the b12 is too pass oriented. From watching drew brees break marinos passing record this year, guys like eli and brady and Rodgers come close to it, and rookies like andy dalton and cam Newton come in and throw it all over the field, it seems to me the nfl has become very pass oriented as well. So, how would playing in the pass happy b12 not be as good as being in the sec, as it pertains to getting "nfl ready?"

I don't think the dad is forcing him to go to Texas against his wishes and in my opinion this is just a rationalization for butthurt Vol fans. Does anyone think his dad made him flash the "hook 'em horns" in his prom picture? I hope he comes to Tennessee but I don't see him being forced against his will if he selects Texas.

In all fairness to Dalton, he is still committed to Tennessee, he didnt just up and leave us because his daddy said so. But the coaches feel if his visit goes well this weekend, he will be a horn. He would get to stay close to home and make his family happy.

The last UT commitment to switch to Texas (that I can remember) was ATH/WR prospect Demarco Cobbs in 2009. Does anyone remember this?

Cobbs was slated to be a WR prospect for the Vols and was a 4* player. I think he played QB in HS. He was hurt last year for the LongHorns, but I am pretty sure he will be back next year as a redshirt sophomore. What is even more interesting is the position he plays. He was going to be a WR type guy, but he switched to LB at Texas and was going to see some serious PT last year before a season-ending injury.

Just thought it was interesting. This is the 2nd time in the last 5 years that Texas has tried to switch a UT LB commit.

Interesting. Yeah I remember him. He committed on like the same day as Corey Miller and Brandon Willis. He was a 5 star on Scout, same with Willis. Although I cannot remember what they were on rivals or ESPN. It was such a crazy day for recruiting. I'll never forget it.

It's not as much about the style of play, as it is the style of players in the SEC that gets players more NFL ready...

SEC >BIG12 in NFL payers.

My cautious optimism has now turned to a serious doubt on him being apart of this class.

This is quite dissapointong too, given the fact that it sounds like he wants to be at TN and his dad is pressuring him to stay in state. Wrong approach IMO.

It sucks, but I couldn't honestly say I wouldn't do the same. If god blesses my son with the talent to play d1 ball for a top 50 school, I can't honestly say I wouldn't steer him to Tennessee. I really dont see the point in faulting the kid for taking the easy choice. I would commend him for still being committed to us instead of dropping us as soon as Texas offered.
