As was posted Sal, TJ, and McKeefery were all there last night. McKeefery basically showed DS the plan that would be in place for him when he gets to Knoxville. Dalton's dad was not very receptive of the coaches and kept bringing up UTjr. However, Dalton was all over it and loves that he will be playing his natural position in Knoxville. From what I've been told, our coaches assured Dalton that he was their first choice at ILB and we need him and expect him to immediately compete for playing time. My contact says that he is being led to believe that Dalton sticks with the Vols unless he is just absolutely blown away at Texas. His dad wants him in Austin but Dalton wants to be in Knoxville. May end up like another Landon Collins situation where the kid goes against his families' wishes.

Was Dalton's dad a Kentucky grad? That would explain the Tennessee hatred.

Gosh I hope he sticks.

Feel sorry for the kid.

No its not.....and we got one didn't we....entertained for a moment by Robinson but he was quick to reply and I respect that....but you must remember we did not go from zero interest to an offer with Robinson...TX did with Santos.....

Add to the fact that we told Robinson upfront that he maybe a DE

Add to it that he was not a baickup option for Santos.

So it becomes less arrogant...
When did we ever show interest before? An offer two weeks before NSD is a backup option.

The same VQ poster then said this...

The Santos family has discussed following Dalton to Knoxville. I am not fully aware of their financial situation, but I definitely think Texas is spending more time talking to Daddy Santos than Dalton. I still think Dalton chooses the Vols as of right now, but as someone mentioned this smells a lot like the Tim Couch situation.

I don't think it's Tennessee hatred as much as it is Texas love.

However, he should want his son to go where his son wants to go and no where else.

I know, I try to be fair and understand as his father; of course I'm biased as a Vol fan who wants Santos in orange....

...but I think his dad is erring toever so slightly away from Dalton's wishes towards his own.

While I understand being fans of UTjr and all, I don't understand the family wanting to immediately flip to a school that has shown very little interest until now over a school that has tabbed you as a priority the entire time.

Dalton seems to have a good head on his shoulders and hasn't gotten caught up in the moment. If he flips, he will do it because he feels UTjr is the best fit for him and not because he and his family are fans.

In the end, it should be Dalton's decision and not the parents.

It's the parents job to support their child's decision, not talk him or her out if it for their own selfish reasons..This is what has pi$$ed me off from the beginning of this whole Texas ordeal..His parents are controlling him more than they should and that could lead to resentment..Dalton needs to do what is best for Dalton, and if UT is the place where "it feels right" then that is where he is meant to be..So Mr. and Mrs. Santos needs to support their son, if not, then it could to that resentment I was referring to...If they have to rearrange their life, they may not like it but they should do it with a smile b/c they are supporting their son.

From what I understand if Dalton chooses the Vols then his family intends to move. His dad already contacted a local HS basketball coach to talk about Daltons brother playing for them.

Could you imagine the weight of that decision?

Dad: "Pick where ever you want to go, but if you do pick Knoxville then we have to up and move. I won't get to watch you in Knoxville as often and I want to, so I'll just try and find a job down there and your brother will go to a new school, but no pressure." (The whole time his face looks like this :ermm:)

I hope thats true because if so, it seems he is going to be a Vol. Just sucks we won't even be able to contact him before NSD after he leaves Austin.

If I understand the quiet/dead period correctly.

I feel for this kid having to decide between his heart and his dad wishes.

I think We will lose him.I've always felt he would end up elsewhere. Now the home team is in it doesn't look good.If We do lose him We got AJ JOHNSON CURT MAGGIT OTHA AND OTHERS.To me this will be a great class without him.Might get lucky and a better recruit get his scholly.Like a Patterson or Davis or Davis there is time left for THE REAL UT to flip some guys too.Go Vols.............
