I think We will lose him.I've always felt he would end up elsewhere. Now the home team is in it doesn't look good.If We do lose him We got AJ JOHNSON CURT MAGGIT OTHA AND OTHERS.To me this will be a great class without him.Might get lucky and a better recruit get his scholly.Like a Patterson or Davis or Davis there is time left for THE REAL UT to flip some guys too.Go Vols.............

That's how I feel too. The longer this whole thing has dragged on, the worse I have felt about Dalton's commitment. What's so strange to me is the fact that Texas came calling so late in the game for this kid. Usually they have their class wrapped up EARLY. Did they have some decomits or something?

Just misses.

I think it is a case of "I want him so YOU cannot have him"

You probably think the reason he picks Texas (if he picks Texas) is because it's Texas and his dream school, blah blah blah... right?

It would have nothing to do with the current condition of Tennessee's football program, right? Sal has to hold onto two guys, that's it, with Santos being a guy he's already formed a relationship with... If he doesn't, I'm not so sure about his so called great recruiting ability...

I would not go just because they came late and I was sloppy seconds. I most importantly wouldn't want my child done that way.

when i was 18, i wanted to be a Marine, my dad wanted no part of that. i followed my heart, we fought, until he saw me graduate boot camp, he was proud and pleased to see me succeed...

i hope this kid follows his heart whether it is knoxville or austin.

Dalton Santos Commitment Video - YouTube

This is Dalton's committment Youtube Video.....It is worth watching..8 minutes.

I don't think anything has changed in his heart at all. I think it is pressure from Dad and that is the major problem....Parents often live their lives through their offspring....

Dalton knows what is best for him....He knows what his family wants.....It's tough on him to choose....

Had the same situation with my son.....My advice to him was to do what he felt was best for him and I would support....If he needed someone to play Devil Advocate I would but only if he asked....bottom line I would support his decision and it needed to be his and his only, not moms, brothers, mine or his friends......

I did tell him that there would be a time that he would not want us so close to him and knew it was time to let go and allow him to program himself for success because I knew he had been given the tools to do so......

This is not sour grapes....I wish this kid the best.....no matter what decision he makes. I hate that parents cannot let go when it is time to do so......the only reason I said that was because of the comment regarding the coldness to the coaches and the input regarding UTjr interjected in the mtg by dad.

Tough decision for the kid.....the only reason Tx is even at the table is because of Dad. It would be ball game over if he just stepped back from the situation......

His parents are controlling him more than they should and that could lead to resentment

I feel for this kid having to decide between his heart and his dad wishes.

What is the evidence for these claims? This is message board fluff that is being dreamed up. Publicly, Dalton has done nothing but speak positively about Texas. There is a photo in this thread of him throwing up the Hook'em Horns just yesterday.

Texas was chasing Mario Edwards & DGB and had a WR decommit because he was pissed Texas was recruiting DGB.

Not saying Skeet can't be wrong but usually when he predicts something everyone takes it as truth. Now he predicts something nobody wants to hear and they close their ears. Funny.

I'll go with Skeet and say we're in the back seat on this one. Hope he's wrong though.

When did he say that? Are should I say what page#?

Not sure what page.

He said it before the visit and then again last night.

Said something like "it continues to look like UT has a lot of ground to make up and something crazy needs to happen for him to sign with UT."

Not exact words but you get the point.

What I don't understand is how most everyone here is saying he'll be a Vol despite skeeter saying he most likely won't be.

Wishful thinking IMO.

I think Skeeter's last post said that it would a tall order to hang onto to him, NOT that he won't be a Vol.

No one knows what the outcome of all this will be, even though he is accurate on A LOT of stuff..I was just saying that Skeeter never said that Dalton wasn't gonna be a Vol in that particular post..Unless you are referring to other posts he has made regarding the situation..I can't remember all of them..LOL!!:hi:

Doesn't mean it's true but I'm sure that this is what some are choosing to hang their hats on.
From VQ Poster

As was posted Sal, TJ, and McKeefery were all there last night. McKeefery basically showed DS the plan that would be in place for him when he gets to Knoxville. Dalton's dad was not very receptive of the coaches and kept bringing up UTjr. However, Dalton was all over it and loves that he will be playing his natural position in Knoxville. From what I've been told, our coaches assured Dalton that he was their first choice at ILB and we need him and expect him to immediately compete for playing time. My contact says that he is being led to believe that Dalton sticks with the Vols unless he is just absolutely blown away at Texas. His dad wants him in Austin but Dalton wants to be in Knoxville. May end up like another Landon Collins situation where the kid goes against his families' wishes.

When did we ever show interest before? An offer two weeks before NSD is a backup option.

Early on and there was a thought of taking Santos and Robinson at one point....He was not a backup to Santos but he was the option chosen when it appears that R Brown is going somewhere else.

That was the one. I knew he didn't say he wouldn't be a Vol but still. Tall order is enough for most people to say he'll be a Horn. Or so you'd think.
