Just a shot in the dark, but maybe Texas doesn't QUITE have a free scholly to offer yet, but they're telling him he has a good chance. He may be waiting to find out on NSD if he has that offer or not, so he's not going to de-commit from us in the meantime. The other possibility is that he's still "committed" to Tennessee but very open to the possibility of playing at Texas.

Back to my first thought, it seems like if he had a committable offer right now from Texas, he probably wouldn't be given too much time by Texas to "think about it". I would think that Texas would move on to the next kid.

You may be out to something grasshopper

You maybe right....People love Drama....This also maybe a pride thing with Texas and not a need...

The Buzz around this kid has probably put the Texas Staff into a pressure cooker to offer him. They don't have a slot but many in Texas and boosters don't want egg on their face and Brown doesn't want it either... Would not be good for the future....

So they will take him and waste him away....

This recruitment has turned into more of a territorial thing regarding recruitment in Texas that has been hyped up by Santos play in the recent all star game, Texas fans and boosters, the loss of Tx A&M, Missouri to the SEC, and TX kids going to the SEC schools versus B12. All of which spells financial Disaster for Texas and their inability to hold onto a kid...

Texas response is offer him a Scholarship, we don't have his position available, a scholarship either, we can switch him to DE, but most importantly we don't need any other Texas kids going to other SEC schools because it may start a trend we cannot control in the future....

Texas wants Santos not for football but for image and maintain a lock down on their recruitting territory.....this is going to be the first of many border wars regarding recruits in Texas....

Maybe we can raid recruits while there back is turned worrying about their other border problem.

Nice theory, but do you really believe the territorial thing? Texas could blow this off and claim he just wasn't good enough and they have a full class. They don't offer every good Texas player.

This could be nothing more than his parents want him to play near home and have been horn fans all of their lives. Santos could like UT or Sirmon or wants to play in the SEC and not in the big 12. Thus a conflict with parents.

This is ridiculous.

why is that?

From all the practice sessions and in the background he was always wearing them. Much more than the sweats.

And I'm always a little scared of people wearing windsuits because I had a roommate in college who was a trainer with the basketball team. It was his belief that you had to wash clothes, but not windsuits. That's why he wore them all the time. So he didn't ever have to wash them. He stopped being my roommate after that.

The #1 and #2 conferences are the SEC West Division and SEC East Division. Everything else is irrelevant at this point. Texas is in a mediocre league just like the ACC and Big 10. The #3 league currently and will be in the future is the PAC.

I am pretty much done with this recruitment....But just review the facts and if Santos wants to play for Texas it is his mistake. It is a green player with a ton of upside potential that will be better prepared for the next level at Tennessee.

Facts.

1. Pro potential and draft potential out of Tennessee vs TX
2. SEC competition will prepare him better for the next level.
3. Recommendation of Sirmon and that being stated is worth a lot. Sirmon would be a person that would know.
4. His position coach is coming off a NC team that knows the requirements to get him to the next level.
5. His future position coach at Tennessee coached the position in the pros.
6. He will learn more here than Texas.
7. Facilities and Fans.
8. Defense wins Championships and Offenses must score. Tennessee has both.
9. Early playing time and 4 years on the field at Tennessee versus 2-3 at Texas.
10. TV time will always be there
11. The NFL always gives the SEC players a first look versus other conferences. Especially in the lower rounds. So he doesn't have to be a super star.
12. It is the SEC, a conference Championship is just as good as a NC.
13. Look at Tennessee commitment to the Defensive side of the ball this yr a lot of support players.
14. He will be revered here...because of this Drama....Tennessee fans are loyal...espcially when a player selects them....he may not live up to the hype but the fans will stay true in most cases....So he can come here and be revered or stay in Texas and be part of the woodwork.....
15. Texas owes us for bailing their a$$ out of a jam...He should understand that he doesn't exist without Tennessee and if he were part Mexico we would not be recruiting him nobody would...of course he may be in New Mexico and it would not be an issue...

As I've said before, the state of Texas produces about 400 FBS football players a year and the Horns can only sign 20 to 25 of them. Maybe less when, like this year, Texas brings in players from out of state. There have always been a lot of Texas players going to the SEC and out of the state of Texas in general. This is nothing new.

Well, that is interesting. Never thought about it. Let's see what we have here...

Yea Texas produces talent. Texas U locks their classes up early and holds them decently....The untouchables. Beginning to be a thing of the past. The 20 to 25 talents high end a year maybe becoming more open to going other places now and recruiting in Texas maybe changing.

The offer of Santos is a great example of this and why he got an offer so late in the game to begin with and why he maybe redshirted and why he maybe slotted as a DE vs a LB.

Your avi is disturbing. Seriously.

Please change it.

When Texas offers they don't expect a No from a TX recruit. It is becoming a thing of the past because on the SEC dominance....

If Santos were in another this would not be as much of an issue....Fans support that school and recruit better than the staff.....It is a lot of pressure for him to say No and his parents are pushing it also....

He fits us....he has a ton of upside....I don't see that at Texas.....
