My mistake.....Callahan is reporting latest on Santos at govols24/7 on twitter.

no real update there. It just says both staffs visited Santos yesterday and they (gv247) haven't heard anything from Santos' camp since the visit, but a family member supposedly informed the Texas 247 site that Santos' visit to UTx was still on for this weekend.

Thanks for the info....

Holy crap. I agree with an Aggy.

QB situation or not, there is no reason Texas should ever lose more than 2 games a year. Oklahoma is always a toss-up +1.

The "Texas doesn't have an elite D" or "hasn't had a good defense in 15 years" is kind of silly.

Texas balance of power in the next 3-4 years

1) Texas A&M

2) TCU

3) Baylor

4) Texas

Based on??

Keeping Mack Brown around too long....It is kind of like the Jo Pa thing....at Penn State (not Sandusky) but once he had those losing seasons He never got the team back to the top tier.

We were headed that way with Fulmer.

Tx A&M will do so because of the SEC and the competition it is a matter of survival to get better and they are in a talent target rich environment....

Baylor has got a great buzz rating.....

TCU has been knocking at the door for years but they are more fluff than puff.

TX wants so bad the old days back...they have so alienated the others in the region with the Empire thing. People just told them to take a hike....

Once was was TX is TX no more....

"Anybody can be an elite recruiter at TX"
Tell that to David McWilliams & John Mackovic - we sucked for a long time before Mack.

"But I beg to differ on the elite D. Nobody in the Big 12 plays elite D, especially TX. "
Texas had the #11 D last season in all of college football.....and that was playing in an offensive intensive conference AND with getting limited help from a screwed up offense with massive QB problems.

As for strength of schedule.....in his final SOS ratings, Sagarin said that Texas played the 5th hardest schedule last season ( USATODAY.com ). I can be honest and admit that the SEC is the best conference but why you guys can't be honest and admit that the Big12 is the 2nd best conference is kind of weird.

That's laughable! Play LSU, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina in a season, then brag to me about having the #11 D and playing a tough schedule.

Don't y'all worry about Texas one bit. We had a series of bad luck, bad coaching, bad recruiting evaluations, laziness, crappy S&C and inner turmoil. We'll be back sooner rather than later. The entitlement that had settled into the program has been dealt with. We'll lose a couple of games next year setting up a MNC game against The Vols in 2013. :)

Not Texas bashing, but I would ecstatically welcome such an outcome to 2013!!! GBO!!!

We're all very familiar with your S&C coach now. Does he have your guys actually lifting some heavy weight or doing some Jane Fonda shiz like he did with our team?

I never realized how similar we were until this post haha.

Tennessee is not, we have our own problems with our conference rivals, and you guys can't ever beat OU.

Most TN fans are level headed and aren't freaking out. You speak of the vocal minority and they often habitate in the Football Forum.

Also, In b4 everyone tells you to get the hell out of here and we don't want to hear what you think.

Yeah, nobody here frequents the football forum.

I honestly believe Texas will have the second best defense in the country next year next to lsu. The stats may not show it because you're in the big 12 but last years was sick and super young. You have a most of them coming back and the seniors leaving (especially Gideon, I thought he would be better) are being replaced by more talented youngins. A&m and mizzou leaving will def help too.

That's only half of the issue... it's convenient that you don't even mention the part about the Tennessee kid not wanting Dooley to even visit him and he'll just stick with his TEXAS TECH commitment...

I like your, "you don't have orange marshmallows in your butt, so go be someone else's #1 fan" comment... pretty original.

I guess 'dooley is going to have a top 10 recruiting class but MIGHT lose a Texas kid to the university of Texas so this program is in the crapper' is a lot more creative.

no kiddin.. does he still wear the sweatshirts in august?

By that logic, it's a knock on Saban that Jacquez Smith didn't even want him to visit and stick with his commitment Tennessee.

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe Texas doesn't QUITE have a free scholly to offer yet, but they're telling him he has a good chance. He may be waiting to find out on NSD if he has that offer or not, so he's not going to de-commit from us in the meantime.

The other possibility is that he's still "committed" to Tennessee but very open to the possibility of playing at Texas.

Back to my first thought, it seems like if he had a committable offer right now from Texas, he probably wouldn't be given too much time by Texas to "think about it". I would think that Texas would move on to the next kid.

Some think his parents are pushing for Texas. I don't know how accurate that is, but that's the word.
