Correct to a degree.. But Santos has said multiple times that he wants to play in the best league in the country. That's why he seriously considered Texas A&M after it was confirmed they were joining the SEC.

I'm sure it will be hard for him to walk away from the Longhorns, but playing in the SEC is definitely a factor in his recruitment.

This is true, losing him to texas isnt nearly as bad as him going to bama, fl, or UGA. If your from Texas, there your fav school, and they offer you, it's a no-brainer to sign with Texas. Its a honor if you live in Texas to play for Texas.

Santos is not a fatty. A MLB doesn't need a six pack, especially one that is 250 plus.

Honestly I don't see what everyone is going nuts about. This video didn't impress me at all. Not saying the kid ain't all he is being touted as but if this is evidence of it.....call me a bit confused. How does you falling down and a guy tripping over you make a highlight tape?

It's almost entirely user generated, that's where the problem lies. It's simply not backed up by facts when it comes to recruiting, and purely by speculation.

The article I posted had absolutely nothing to do with recruiting. I am fully aware of what the Bleacher Report is and who writes it.

It was discussing who the most improved teams in 2012 would be. I found it interesting. If you didn't, good for you.

I watched him nearly every play in the all star game...he wasn't the most impressive backer on his side of the ball.

Just playing for tx football outweighs anything playing in the SEC can do for him and his family. If he goes to tx and doesn't make it to the NFL he'll still be set for life back home in east tx.

HAHA whatever, I haven't seen any other mlb that looked like that. No you dont need a six pack, but you need to be in shape with less bad weight then hes has. Look i know these guys were a little older then santos in there pics but he would have some work to do in the weight room to improve his endurance. I want santos to be a vol but if you live in texas and your a texas fan and they offer you, you go to texas 99% of the time..

I'm not saying he isn't good. I am saying I was expecting more given the hype and his high school highlight film. Would have expected him to be first to the ball a few times.

Did you see any of it? I haven't heard many people talk about it.

I was more impressed with the other linebacker that played alongside Santos. His names slips my mind but he was #27 and is committed to Michigan. That dude was flying to the ball carrier every single play.

He looked like I thought he would look in the All-star game. Big ILB that would do good against the Bama and LSU type of teams. He never has been the elite guy that everyone wants him to be. Peters is that guy. But Santos is still very good and I wouldn't mind having him if he were coming here. Good luck to him if he's not. McNeil is the guy we need in this class the most.

It's poorly written, obvious, completely un-researched, and focused entirely on creating slideshows. I like that we are mentioned, don't get me wrong, but it is a glorified personal blog.

For the last time, I'm not trying to praise the Bleacher Report for its journalism. The article I cited was based on a collective group opinion that felt UT would be one of the teams that would show the most improvement in 2012. The fact that Texas was not mentioned made it that much better.

By the way, I was completely joking. I think most everybody on here (myself included) will root for this young man wherever he goes. He's a throwback to those big nasty linebackers back in the day.

Santos wants to play in the SEC because he knows he can start in a run first league. In the big 12 he would never start, he would be a situational sub. The SEC gives him a much improved chance of playing time and nfl draft opportunities. He has repeatedly said as much, but keep listening to the insiders they are more legit that actual quotes.

I hope Santos reads this article and realizes that Texas wants him as a long-term back-up

With the Longhorns falling out of several recruitments late in the process, Chet Moss possibly moving to fullback full-time, and a weak middle linebacker class in 2013, it appears that the coaching made the late decision that the Longhorns need a long-term back-up to Steve Edmond, slated to take over in the middle next season for the departing Keenan Robinson.
