'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

I'm surprised how many people on VN have written the Vols off with Santos.

I haven't, think some have with the offer to the other kid...I would not want to be in his position but hey if he want to play at UT and be a backplan then so be it...and again maybe the backfill to brown since he is signed...

these kids all of them love the attention and this maybe just what is happening with Santos...so there is another aspect....

Some feel like they have been dropped by their HS girlfriend for another.....

Family will play a role in it.....and dad is doing the talking and we all know what that means.....LOL...

It is a process and right now some feel jilted and do not realize the reward or gain from this if he stays or even if he goes somewhere else....

Its just the initial shock....Right now Dad is protecting him from making any statements that will harm him...For example....the 99.9% statement.....put him in a corner sort of speak...

They have not burnt the VOL bridge yet, but they did the Arkansas bridge......by stating he was not going to Arkansas...great visit....

Looking for a way to make the .01 percent happen...Make statements like Lifelong dream, always wanted to go there....was never an option until now...close to home....Austin is a great city.....

Who knows it is HS kids, recruitting and shiny objects...

Would be nice to know who solicted who......in this process.....

"Despite the change, Urlacher flourished under Long's tenure.[7] Urlacher not only received more playing time, but also played a more versatile role on both offense and defense. Long converted Urlacher into a "Lobo-Back",[9] a cross between a linebacker and free safety, and placed him in a 3-3-5 defense scheme."

Wikipedia

Says he was also a return man and wide receiver.

Yep..it was just last week that Santos was saying that Sal was his one and only....
Mary Alice went to the party with Fred after saying yes to Opie first but Ope played it cool left with her after Fred left her sitting on the sidelines.

If we had 10 kids in the exact same situation as Santos, I think we get 6 of them. So I think we have a 60% chance.

Thanks, OCI! I really hope that you and I are right on this one...my gut feeling tells me that in the end Dalton will look at the whole body of his recruitment and realize that Tennessee has been there through it all. I think that he will also realize who gives him the best chance to shine on the field and later in the NFL...which is Tennessee and Coach Sal! End of story! Lock him up, Sal!

Was just told by a friend of Dalton's that right now it's 60/40 in Texas' favor. We've still got a shot to keep him, but it's going to be difficult.

This proves exactly what I have been saying...Dalton said he would commit on the spot if Texas offered...he didn't commit as far as we know...now, the fuzzy feelings are starting to wear off 48 hours after the Texas offer. He's down to 60/40 in favor of Texas. As the days go on, he will continue to realize who has been by his side the WHOLE TIME throughout his recruitment and who is really the better fit for him...and that school IS...the one and ONLY UT VOLS!!

Would be weird to see mack brown leaving as Sal is coming in

CSS is known to be a great recruiter. In an odd way his visit after browns could actually be a learning experience for him and in turn for our other coaches and cdd. This could be helpful in future T.R.U.T. vs utx recruiting battles. Will be interesting to see this transpire.

Y'all have to understand that this is not the norm for tx. They don't go into a home trying to convince a tx kid to commit a week before nsd. This is very odd position for brown to be in. He usually has his class sealed up and committed a yr in advance. He should be dealing with the '13 class right now. TX recruiting is a well oiled machine. Of course it helps being the state school in one of the major football breeding grounds...

Just wish some people on here would stay away from the negatives and gf bashing. Brown doesn't need more help than the card he is already holding.

We want this kid and need him. No matter what all some might want to say. If we lose out on him we won't be able to replace him this class. Might not break our class like others but it'll hurt it more than we can benefit from it.

otha peters is better than santos. we are hanging on to the better backer.

anyway, might as well take UT commit off of the title

dude is peacing out and he really isnt a class breaker.

McNeil is that guy

Jay i respect you as a poster. you and i are almost always on the same page.

this is exactly right.

Here is another point for everyone to ponder...Dalton said a long time ago that if Texas offered him a scholly, then he would probably commit on the spot...well, guess what VN? Texas did offer him on Saturday night...it is now Monday and still no word that Dalton committed on the spot. Now, maybe he already gave them a silent commitment and already called our coaches and de-committed. If so, then no one in the media outlets, who have already talked to him a few times since his Arky trip has found out any of this info. What I am saying is that this is a slight glimmer of hope for the Vols if he has indeed not given any commitment to Texas...he is wavering on what he said a long time ago, and maybe he is extremely ticked off at them and offended that they offered him this late. I am the biggest Vol fan along with the rest of you guys, but I honestly think that if Tennessee didn't even look at me until 10 days before NSD, then I would be ticked off at my home state school for not even giving me a look sooner. That's just me though...I know a lot of you say that you would commit on the spot if this situation happened to you.

Interesting points there because I haven't really thought of all that..HMMM..

IMO, people are just saying that he will commit to Texas so they won't be disappointed when he announces on NSD or even before..We have heard so much about this so we are just preparing ourselves..Again..just my opinion.:hi:
