'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

Disagree and it's not just about his intangibles. Anytime, you can swoop into a prime recruiting state, particularly one that UT has struggled in, and snag one of their better prospects is always a coup, and a potential building block to an eventual pipeline.

I said he was a solid player. I don't think he is elite. Vols will never have a pipeline to Texas.

Maybe Texas is using him to shore up that shaky LB commit. It would be bad if he tells CSS and CTJ he is going to be a horn and then get the rug pulled out from under him. I don't see any reason to hold a spot for him this late in the game with the numbers crunch. Particularly if they have a highly rated recruit at a position of need who wants to be a Vol.

If the Red River Shootout was the sales pitch to get him there I'd be seriously worried about the boy's mental capacity. That atmosphere is duplicated numerous weekends in the SEC.

Short-Term, No. Long-Term, that makeshift Big-12 isn't going to hold and Texas is likely to come to the SEC. A lot more TX stations turned into Tennessee and exposure rises.

If, and this is starting to look like a big if, Santos turns down the horns and signs with the Vols, can you imagine the booms and gifs that will be unleashed upon this thread? Could be the type of thing you tell your grandchildren about someday.

it's been up and down...i boomed once for his commitment and i'll boom again when he signs. that's it that's all

Texas is one of those rare states that hasn't been completely homogenized . Texas Football still means something to that entire state not just the eastern and central parts.

At the end of the day on Feb 1, he'll be all Vol. We've made this young man a priority from the start. Sunseri spent an entire day with him last week, and apparently will do the same this week. No way that Texas swoops in and takes him away from the Vols. As they say, Texas is a day late and a dollar short...

Is there a shaky LB commit that Tex is dealing with?

You really feel that his offer may not be solid with the tex staff?

Fellas you need to relax a little. Going into to Texas and getting a really good LB may be a new path for some of you. Get used to it. With aTm coming into the SEC, we will be recruiting the state of Texas much more. Santos is just blazing the trail for us! Santos will be a VOL!!!

Several pages back someone mentioned a WR decommitted and his teammate a LB was now shaky.
Just speculating. I do question what Dooley and company will do if Kirven , Patterson or Davis surprises.

Thanks.

I think the only thing they can do is not turn in a NLI the NCAA for certification. I expect that to happen at a few SEC schools. It will be a huge news story and I hope Slive gets hammered with blame.

Can Santos play pass coverage well enough to be a every down MLB in the SEC? Can he run well enough? I don't know just asking? But at 260 already he's headed to DE territory in mho.

OU, A&M, OSU, Texas, LSU...too much competition. Couple that with Texans having an unusually strong love for their state...I just don't see the remote possibility of a pipeline.

It would be so funny if he ends up signing with Tennessee...

It would be good for our program.

I will say that you rarely see all of the recruiting experts sour on our chances like they have with Santos. They don't even seem to be giving 50-50 odds.

Mack Brown and Manny Diaz will make their visit to Van, Texas on Wednesday afternoon. Following that visit, Vol defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri and defensive backs coach Terry Joseph will see Santos and his family one last time before he visits Texas

VQ.

Nothing we don't already know. Who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall in the Santos house Wednesday evening?

That seems to be the question mark that keeps him a 3* according to them.

All the negaVols will hate this!
