'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

Rivals depth chart for Texas shows them losing 2/3 of their starting LB's including their MLB. Also, shows Fr. behind those starters. This guy may be worried about playing behind AJ and may have a better shot to get more playing time at Texas.

Santos has said many times that his word is very important to him and his dad raised him right. He said he was 99.9% committed to us and was just doing what most people don't get a chance to do and take his visits. If his word is important to him, then everyone should just calm down. He should end up signing with us.

I don't even know if Texas would take his commitment depending on how things shake out. There are quite a few players that they may end up with, including Green-Beckham and they don't reall have a lot of room. They may would not even have a spot for him. They already have 3 linebacker commitments. I think he would be more of a backup for Texas.

Was dawson ever committed to UT unless it was silent?? I didn't see him on the committment list from last year.

I do know that Kiffin snagged him(that's all I'm saying on that issue):ermm:

According to Skeeter he was all Vol after his visit. Then Captain Caveman showed up at his house and the rest is history. He always said something went on that caused the change , but never said what. No he was never committed publicly , but it hasn't seemed like Santos had been committed here either for the past month or so. It's his decision and I hope he comes here , but just don't flip on signing day.

You all are fooling yourselves if you think he's taking this visit for fun.

Almost all Texas kids dream of playing for the Longhorns. If they decide they want Santos they most likely will get him.

I'm not trying to be negative but our chances of keeping Santos are looking slim with this new development.

Dalton was wrapped up last week when Coach Sunseri visited. He will be a Vol.

No reason to freak out or get upset over an 18 year-old taking free trips. Let Santos have his fun. If he does happen to sign elsewhere, then it was his own decision. He should be allowed to take his time and think about where he is going to spend the next 4 years of his life, IMO.

But back to what I originally posted. Vol. Just sit back and wait for the LOI to be faxed in on NSD.

He just said last week that he was 99.9% committed here and loved Sal.

Nothing Santos says should be taken seriously at this point. He is simply telling every fanbase exactly what they want to hear including us. I hate to say it but his word doesn't mean much at this point. I know we won't do this but we should all just close this thread and check back on NSD and see how it turns out.

Just remember back to when you were his age and think what you would do if you were in his shoes. You know that you are going to be a VFL and have told the coaching staff just that BUT wouldn't it be nice to fully experience what being recruited is all about. Visit the schools, have some fun, meet other players, but in the end do what you have said all along which is sign with the Vols.

Santos will be with us next year IMO!!!

I know , but it's not 100% and he has a reputation for telling people exactly what they want to hear. Don't think I'm saying to hell with him. I want him here , but he needs to do what is best for him. I hope that is playing for Tennessee. If it's not , I understand.

It's not worth worrying about. That is what I was getting at with the "I don't care anymore" stuff. Hope he is a Vol. If not good luck.

I just get so involved with recruiting b/c I keep others in my family posted on any new developments..My husband doesn't follow it and I'm kinda "in charge" b/c I choose to be.

I remember exactly how I was at his age and I wouldn't have told every single school exactly what they wanted to hear. If I told Tx A.M I was coming on a visit I would have kept my word and took it. I would have been truthful to everyone involved in the process. I can't say Santos has done that.

It's important to note that Santos just now received an offer from Texas, his childhood favorite. It's not like he committed to Tennessee over Texas.

That's my point. To a family that says relationships are important it's too little too late. I hope.:)

I know all the great things he said about Sal and to the recruiting sites , but when he didn't visit here a week or so ago I started feeling this way. Sal was hired and I know the drive was long , but he should have been here helping Danny and the other commits recruit and checking out his future school. I just think not showing up said more than anything he said in any interview.
