Hoping we lock him down with the in home visit today. Maybe Sal can convince him to skip a visit with UGA and come for another visit here. I know that's not likely cause Santos seems to be enjoying the recruiting process. But it would be nice.

In all honesty, I hope Sal tells him to be straight up with us. Tell him that if he plans on wavering to let us know so we can fill the spot he leaves with another recruit. I'd prefer he stays but if not we need to know so we can fill his spot.

Just FWIW CSS was recruiting him hard to UA and he picked UT instead over UA. CSS would have been his position coach at UA.

I know, he chose UT over Bama. Not CPS over CSS. The Santos family has been quoted as saying they like CSS and the fact UT hired him. The fact CSS was his recruiter at Bama is a very good thing, IMO.

Remember, CPS sold UT not himself or the NFL. That's why we haven't lost any recruits yet from the coaching changes. Which, if you think about it, is pretty remarkable. That doesn't happen at most schools...

Vol.

I only made it thru like 3 comments on that article before I got sick...definitely do not want to lose Dalton to UGA. UT is a perfect fit for him IMO, early playing time, but he doesn't have to carry the whole defense like the freshman last year for the most part (meaning AJ and Maggitt)

I remember Dooley saying something about that early on in his tenure here. Saying that he prefers to sell the school not the coaching staff. I think that is a terrific philosophy. Coaches come and go, but the school stays the same.

This should be be the goal of the trip IMO and I don't expect anything better than that to come out of it.

I was very disappointed to learn he wan't coming last weekend. I understand why, but I still wish we could have got him back up here.

I posted that I thought he would come after we did hire the DC. I feel that he feels strong enough about us to make an effort to come back even if it means canceling another visit. I hope I am right.

Also strangely enough I think the GA could make it easier to come to knoxville. If they play their cards right all they would have to pay for is a rental car from Athens to knoxville and GA pays the rest.

Dalton is a Vol. Dont panic and fret. If he is not then there are others. Yes...he is the pretty girl out there that looks like the dream date but its not the end of the world if he goes somewhere else it will just be his lost not ours. Most of you fret over this women. If he doesnt come here or changes i dont want him...but for him he comes here or he will learn from his mistake....sometimes i think these recruitting adventures are like HS courtships. Face it they are....Truth the HC queen wasnt as good in bed as everybody thought she would be.....

Yeah, I thought with the timing of the DC hire he would still make the trip.

And I hope we can make something work. All I know is I think it's very important to get him on campus one last time before NSD.

:lolabove: We just had multiple JUCO players committed to UT back out at the last minute. And people are doing the VFL!!! routine, even though the guy is putting out every signal in the world that he's thinking about walking. Doesn't look to me like anyone should feel confident about him til he's signed.

I know very little about Santos, but he and his family do not strike me as the type of people that would do something like that.

It would be nice to have him in Athens, if anything he could use the trip to get away from everybody and have some alone time to clear his head.

If someone wants to walk away from the Sec, our complex, our other recruits, our offense Medical rehab and prep our fans and early playing time then so be it. Not smart but who knows for sure.

They would still take the visit to GA just when it was completed instead of flying home switch their plane tk get a rental car and drive to knoxville for a visit. It wouldn't effect the visit to Ga at all.

Yeah.. I bet you want to get him in Athens for some "alone" time. Piss on UGA. This kid better live up to all the hype. IF..he does end up here, he better be the real deal. If he ends up having a career like Shazzon Bradley, he will get savaged on VN for being a "bust".

I'm not going to pretend like I wouldn't be disappointed if Santos switched on us. I would be even more disappointed if he went to UGA and played against us. But, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he did. LB is a position we have some talent at as it is and another good LB prospect coming in so I think we would live.

agree I. Would be disappointed. And it would be a mistake to go to UGa. If he comes to the Sec it will be Tennessee.
