Awesome! I was wondering where you got this but then I just noticed that A&M's mods have reported it.

With his dad being very impressed with Knoxville and UT and the fact Santos raves about the SEC and how LB's are used I think he's a Vol in the end.

Think it hinges on his dad and which one is more important..Location or being able to fully use your God given abilities. Heres hoping to ability and Daddy.

This shows how good the staff is when we were on the outside looking in and now are in the thick of it. Still, there is no prize for finishing second for a kid.

The biggest thing we have going for us is the fact that he wants to play in the SEC really bad. Thats all he talks about. Its nothing for his dad and mom to jump on a plane very weekend to watch their son play in the best conference in the country.

Very true..And could drive a few of those too. i know its not a close drive but its not like they are from Cali or one of the Western states. Definately could see him play when they wanted. Hoping SEC play wins out. He would be a beast in our system and could come in and get some PT right away. I bet they know that too.

Should be another factor

Any away game UT has vs. SEC West opponents are definitely within driving distance. Which can't hurt.

While I would like to get this kid as I think he would be a real difference maker at LB for us..I think it's going to be tough. Do you know what his parents do for a living? I ask that as you said it would be no big deal for his parents to fly to Knoxville(or away games) to see him play. They would have to drive 75 miles+ to fly out of Dallas. Round trip tickets for at least (2) plus a hotel. Gameday costs and the 75 mile drive back home after flying back into Dallas. While I'm sure that would be no big deal for some.....ALOT of families could never handle the cost.

With your money Pace, you can pay the bill. Just don't let anyone know.

Put yourself in Mr. Santos' shoes. Take your pick:

Texas A&M:
Coached by Dat Nguyen
Play in the pass-first Big 12
Opportunity to Play Early
Close Proximity to Mom & Dad

Tennessee:
Coached by Peter Sirmon
Play in the pro-style SEC
Opportunity to Play Early
Long Distance from Mom & Dad

I wondered that also. They have a year+ to start saving now. Plus who knows if they stashed away college money that they wont have to use now he will be on scholarship. Truely they wouldnt nhave to come to every game and could drive a few of them. A'M would be the logical choice if thats an issue, but with him talking about the SEC the way he has we atleast have a good shot. Wonder how far OK St is from where he lives? I know he originally committed there, just curious. Also something not being mentioned is what Slive brough up yesterday with the possibilty of extra money in their scholly for other things. SEC could be the only conference to do that and it would only increase the advantages of playing in the SEC.

I understand, I would too, but I'm biased. At A&M, he still gets coached by a former NFL player, he's close to Mom and Dad, and he gets the opportunity to play early. As far as the type of offenses go, the A&M staff will just tell him to look at how Von Miller benefitted from playing against Big 12 offenses. I call A&M here.

Southwest has a direct flight to Nashville...quick drive from there...they may even have a direct to Knoxville...I'm not sure

Nguyen was a heck of a linebacker. This is starting to look like a very difficult decision for Mr. Santos. Which will win out: head or heart?

Play in one of the biggest stadiums in college football. Play at a school that has some of the best facilities in college football (not to mention what UT is building for next year). Plus, let's not undermine what playing in the SEC means. He's playing against the best competition in the country every week, hands down. He will be best prepared for the NFL here. I could go on.

I'm sure A&M has some pluses here and there, too.

I cannot imagine in a million years the NCAA allowing this sort of advantage to any conference. I have a feeling a lot of schools might raise a question or 2...
