'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

There is also no actual proof that Dalton could not go to Texas, end up playing LB for 4 years and go to the NFL as a 1st round pick. Those saying he will be a DE, get lost in the roster at Texas, and or never see the field are just saying those things to make themselves feel better about possibly losing him. If the kid can be a star at Tennessee, he could very well do the same thing at Texas.

It might be me just waking up but I can't remember an elite true MLB out of Texas. Can you name one in the nfl right now? All the "successful" ones seem to be OLB/de hybrids.

yep Santos can come to UT and have an opportunity follow in the lineage of recent MLB gods like BIG AL and MAYO .. these guys are heroes in K-town and All-pro NFL players

or go to texas and????? something less than above???

whatever he decides I wish him luck

My thoughts concerning the League are that the step from college to the NFL is even greater than the one from major HS football. To make that move, one needs to play against and get the best coaching possible iin college.

Where are the best defenses in college football? Who supplies the most players to the NFL?

It's not a dichotomy (can't do it from Texas). It's a probability... and the notion is to maximize that.

Still, I don't even know if Sal is that hot on this guy. If he was, and the guy is still visiting Texas, he's weighing other things in his decision.

The Vols will be fine with LB's. We got a real winner in Sunseri. I've got a lot more confidence in his ability to coach. It's a golden opportunity for whomever he goes after.

We lack depth... lot of playing time. We have solid coaching... lots of development. We play in what is hands down, the best conference in college football... plenty of opportunity to develop and demonstrate your talent against the finest in the game.

We'll be fine.

This is my 3rd year as well and I agree that it has been the most stressful.

Same here, I think every year is stressful when it gets to this time. I am staying out of this thread at least till Monday.

Your memories are a little shortened. Let this sink in again...

"What Kiffin is gone?!!! Orgeron is calling our recruits telling them to not go to class!!??"

The cake.
That took it.

Ish..how can I forget that?? Let me rethink this...hell,they're all stressful in some way...even if it's just waiting for the LOI's coming in, but still fun and addictive.

Is there some evidence somewhere that says Mr. Santos won't let his kid go to Tennessee now or is this all just butt hurt speculation?

I know people keep saying that, and I think it has to do with Skeeter and Oci reporting that the in-home visit on Wed night was very Icy, and the reception of our coaches did a 180 after TX offered.

However, my personal opinion is that Mr. Santos is just communicating the way Dalton feels.

Exhibit A: The picture of Dalton doing the hookem horns sign with Mack Brown on the way to prom.
Exhibit B: The picture of Dalton doing the hookem horns sign with Mack Brown in the hall last Wed.

can you explain what you mean by the reception of our coaches?

Prior to the Texas offer, he thought Sal was great, even pranking Dooley with Sal for some lulz over the phone.

After the Texas offer, as the coaches made their pitch, apparently he was very disinterested, and seemed like he was just waiting for them to leave.

We all know how it is when you are in a conversation you don't want to be in...

If that is the truth, and I say a very big if, then to hell with Dalton. After all the things he has said, IF this is true, I hope he rots on the bench at Texas. He has said so many times he is a VFL and that he can't wait to get to Tennessee, if he treated our coaches that way after getting a Texas offer...wow...that is significant character issues. But like I said, IF, that is true.

This thread has slowed down. Let's get 10,000 by Sunday.

I think that it's slowed down, because everyone is over this whole situation. The only way that this thread heats back up and gets over 10000 posts is if Dalton releases a statement to the media Sunday that he hated his OV to Texas and will be a VFL on Wednesday. Even if he flips, there will be a few posts of outrage, but I think that everyone is prepared for the worst and is over the drama.

I think it was Dalton's dad that was rude and crude, that's why skeeter called his dad a POS.

This thread WAS a 5* thread and had about 9000 posts, until the mods removed all the good stuff just because it had nothing to do with Santos. Sheesh, what's this board coming to.

Turn on TNT right now and see what we're up against as far as the pressure of football culture goes in Texas.
