I dont think we'll know til after this upcoming season. Any coach worth his salt will tell you, for every true freshman you start =a loss. Its not like we had a team loaded with upperclassman and had to play a Freshman here or there, we had them all over the field. We could have 11 Eric Berrys playing defense, and would still suck if all 11 EBS were true freshman.

Thanks skeet. That's what I was thinking too. Just was wondering if u had a gut feeling of which way he was.

I'm a big cdd supporter so I hope he at least shows a solid improvement this yr. I just want to be closer in games against teams we should lose to if we don't beat them.

I get the feeling that Sal advise the Santo's that a trip to Austin is non-commitment to UT and that he would be looking around as well for another LB in this class.

If the opening is still there after the trip, fine.
If he can fill it with Lambert, fine.

Rather have Lambert. Peters Lambert>Peters Santos. IMO.

So a program that is absolutely loaded with amazing talent was set back two years because a QB didn't pan out?

Hell of a system you guys are running.

It was the perfect storm. GG was made the man as a Soph. There was a Sr QB who was less talented who gave up football because he was sipped over and then there were only a couple of freshmen QBs on the roster.

Garrett Gilbert never really ran well

He wasn't VY but he ran pretty well.

Example: During the 5-7 season, Texas went to Lincoln to play a 5-0 Nebraska team that was in the top ten. GG only completed 4 passes but carried 11 times for 70 something yards & 2 TDs against a stout defense on the road.

Hes alot like fulmer, he is only as good as the assistants he surrounds himself with. Good coaches like saban replace assistants year in and year out without missing a beat.

This is Mack's biggest fault - misplaced loyalty. Texas DC's kept getting hired away for head coaching jobs but no one ever wanted Greg Davis who was our woefully incompetent OC for well over a decade. Now we have a real OC & DC.

From a defensive perspective, how did OU hang 55 on you guys last October? GG wasn't playing defense was he?
