I think this is an over-rated point that keeps being brought up. If there is a young man who grew up a lifelong Vol fan and Tennessee offered him a week or so before signing day, for whatever reason, he wouldn't care about the time frame.

He's just not deciding Texas vs. Tennesssee though. He's deciding if he wants to be THE MAN at Tennessee a school he's been in love with throughout the whole recruiting process or if he wants to be the 2nd option, the fall thru plan, just another guy, ect. 2 weeks before NSD to an instate school he grew up loving.

Id personally choose being being the man...

Let's not just assume he will be "The Man" here. That's unfair to put that type of expectation on him. AJ Johnson is "The Man" at UT for at least 2 more years.

Just out of curiousity, what are your weaknesses you would lay out if he went to texas?

The only advantage Texas has over TN is Austin, and maybe facilities, but once the new complex opens TN owns that as well.

TN has better defensive coaching (after this draft we won't be able to count the amount of LBs CSS has put in the NFL over the past few years on one hand), plays in a better conference, better gameday atmosphere week in and week out (I know I'm biased, but still-it's the freaking SEC), and has a network that is actually, uh, on TV. And coaches can argue that TN is on the rise-players can come and be a part of bringing it back to power, whereas Texas is falling on its face for no reason other than a HC that appears well past his prime and can't let go.

I'd actually love to play for Mack Brown, he is a great guy and is really a players coach. I know he isn't the brightest guy but he always surrounds himself with great talent. The offensive coordinator at Texas is creative and a star in the making. Not sure about Manny as the D coordinator, but he has ridiculous talent to work with next year.

Don't kid yourselves guys, Texas will be a top 10 program again in 1-2 years. If they get a QB they will really sneak up on people next year.

How many failed 4 and 5 stars do they need to go through until they find one? Given the grief TN's staff has gotten, and others, Texas' failure on offense over the past few years is inexcusable and only points to coaching.

I do not know if it would be considered talking trash but this is untrue. You can say it all you like... and it will still be untrue. TCU should have lost to La Tech in their bowl game. They have made a name beating up on subpar teams in the Mountain West.

I'm not saying TCU is the GOAT but they are elite compared to A&M. A&M has no top 5 finish in almost 60 years and 1 national title in the 30s (when TCU won their title). Just a year or so ago, TCU went undefeated and beat Big 10 champ Wisc in the Rose Bowl and finished #3. You have to go back to before facemasks to find an aggies season that even comes close to that.

or if he wants to be the 2nd option, the fall thru plan, just another guy, ect. 2 weeks before NSD to an instate school he grew up loving.

People like Mack Brown, Saban, etc don't make $5 mill/year because of their football knowledge. They make crazy $ because they are world class salesmen. After he spends the weekend with Mack in Austin, he will feel great about the situation.

lol I don't know how cool they are. Did you see the one of Roger Clemens? Looks like the comic effort winner in a sorority paper mache contest.

No, I didn't see that one....to the Chinamen, Vince Young and Roger Clemmons look the same...round eyes

Then why are you here? Just to be a massive pain in the a$$. The reason we have stopped being competitive with UF is because we have stopped getting enough "next big things". Like I said, I am sure you don't want that to change. Now go do whatever it is Uf jackoffs do for fun. Maybe make some more piss bombs, or buy some more jorts.:hi:

I'm a Bible salesman.

I haven't said 1 thing negative about Tennessee. I have said that Texas was DS's favorite schools growing up - which it was. I said that TCU/WVU were football upgrades over A&M/Mizzou. Where did I talk trash?

WVU is an upgrade compared to Mizzou, but in no way shape or form is TCU an upgrade to aTm. aTm has a huge fan base, more money, more resources, better talent, and is top school in the country. Winning in the MWC will never make a team elite. TCU would not have those years in a bcs conference.

I'm gonna go ahead and tell you, I'm from Austin, Texas grew up there my whole life and I went to high school at Bowie High School and I'm currently a student at Tennessee. Big 12 football doesn't even compare to SEC football in the magnitude of importance, atmosphere, and competition. The only school I could make an argument for the atmosphere would've been TAMU but they're coming here any way. Funny thing too is, I've gone to Texas Longhorns games all my life. Even when the Longhorns are winning, the atmosphere at Darrell K Royal doesn't compare to Neyland. You wouldn't expect the tailgating in Knoxville, TN to be so much better than Austin, TX. The fans in the SEC take college football way more seriously than Big 12 fans. I've seen more from Tennessee in 2 years than I've seen from Texas in 18. I know you keep trying to build up the Big 12, but from someone who's experience both, IT DOES NOT COMPARE.

A cousin of mine went to Miss St. then got a job in Lubbock. Said he and few buddies went out to tailgate for the TT v. Tx game at 8 am. Kegs and eggs - the usual for tailgaiting. He said no one showed up until about an hour before kick. Biggest gameday atmosphere disappointment. Just not the same outside of the south.

I expect AJ would be good sharing some "Man" status with Dalton. SEC is big boy football, and the players get beat up over the season. Reality is we need depth, and we need it now.

Again, delude yourself all you like. If these schools had been in each others' position over the past 3 or 4 years... A&M would have won at least as many if not several more.

I honestly wish the NCAA would create a new division for BCS schools in football. It is utterly ridiculous to me that TCU or Boise can play one to three quality teams in a season then get to a BCS bowl.

TCU may benefit from being in a BCS conference now. But to pretend that the rosters they have had during this recent run of success makes them anything better than a middling program in a BCS conference is pure delusion.

Both are better than anything the Big East has put out in recent years.

A&M has a bigger fan base, more $, better academics, more resources......BUT I am just talking about football performance. TCU beat Big 10 Champ Wiscy in the Rose Bowl to cap off an undefeated & #3 ranked season. A&M hasn't fielded a team in decades that could have hung with that Wisconsin team. To say TCU wouldn't have "those years" in a BCS conference after thumping the Big 10 champ is ponderous to say the least.

Back to Santos.......are the rumors true that you guys are already trying to back-fill his spot? Do you think kids will be insulted that Tennessee wasn't in love with them all along (like people here are saying Santos should feel about Texas)?
