Jelks is not a true Vol fan IMO JMO IYAM. /sarcasm/
But seriously this is just another case of a kid saying he "grew up a Tennessee fan" yet he goes somewhere else.
Personally I would have liked to have Jelks in this class, I think w/ a redshirt year & a year to develop he would have been very good.
I wish the kid the best except during the UT/Vandy game week. It's unfortunate that he is going to go to Vandy. Small crowds, losing program, and a coach that won't stick around. If Franklin loses he will be fired. If he wins he will leave when he gets a better job opportunity. Lose/lose situation for the players. Good thing is though Jelks will get a hell of an education and degree.
I was told that he has been informed for a few weeks that our space is basically full. I was told that Jelks knew this was a risk and he decided to take it. I know P-Fort disagrees with what I said, and thats fine, just passing along some info from a very, very reliable friend.
This makes sense with what I have thought ever since Jelks moved up his announcement....CDD did not let him OV.....Jelks came anyway then never came again to a game even tho he had plans to.
I just can't see saying you grew up a Vol fan your whole life......you get the opportunity for an athletic scholarship at your "dream" school......yet you turn it down to go to one of your "dream" school's in-state conference rivals. I understand our OL talent and depth is much greater than Vandy's, but c'mon man, come in and put in the work. If he does go to VU simply because he can play quicker there, I have a feeling he will end up disappointed. If Franklin has another good year at Vandy he will be gone to greener pastures ASAP.
