'12 TN OL Andrew Jelks

well the rumor is everywhere now.. I heard it here over a week ago. I'll be there tnite so Ill post if it happens

First round playoff game friday might be why he's not going to the lsu/bama game . But how can you give up those tix

OCI is seriously the only person on any Vol board that says we don't want Jelks. I'm not buying it. The staff wants him in a bad way and it's painfully obvious.

The kid grew up a Vol fan and his parents have season tickets. If he chooses Vandy over UT he must be more interested in academics. Which is fine, I'm just saying. But if it's not academics and he's just buying what Franklin is selling, someone should clue him into the fact that if Franklin has a couple decent years in a row he'll be gone for a much better coaching job.

If he commits to Vandy it's because he's tired of waiting...Hubbs and Fortenberry are wrong here.

:lol::lol:

Give it up brother. Most of the time when Brent is wrong, it is because our staff is not expecting a commitment and they get a surprise (Santos). Brent is right about 98 percent of the time, and when it comes to whether or not we want a guy, probably 99. He is about the best source you are going to find outside of an assistant coach, or a director of recruiter type job. Period. I trust my sources over yours, and I trusts Brent's over mine.

“They just tell me I’m their top priority right now, and they’re going to keep pushing for me. They said that, if I wait ‘til signing day — which I don’t think I will — but if I need to wait ‘til signing day, then they’ll wait ‘til signing day for me.”

Jelks said that in the latest interview on 247

This staff wants Jelks. If he chooses Vandy it will be for something other than ut not wanting or taking him at this time. Maybe Franklin sold him on vandy.
I will say this, dont take this as anything other than a possibility because ive heard nothing . But CHH is one of those guys you either love or hate and his coaching style isnt for everyone. I do know hes rubbed a couple of recruits the wrong way, again not saying Jelks is one of those. But for the most part the kids really like chh.

I think Jelks needs to commit pretty soon if he wants to be a Vol. We only have 7 scholarships remaining and we're in on a lot of players. I know we need to sign a couple OLs in this class but Jelks isn't the kind of talent I see Dooley choosing over a player that could start in year 2 at another position. JMO

If thats true, then our coaches our dirty. For the coaches to tell him that they would wait till signing day for him then not take his commitment is dirty.

Everything points to the coaches wanting Jelks. Really bad.

I know nothing about that of which you speak. Just posting my uninformed opinion.

Wrong. Definitely not his dad. His entire family couldnt care less about what's said on message boards.

Skeeter, he likes CHH.

Thats good to hear. ive heard nothing negative when it comes to Jelks. Last i heard the coaches felt they were in good shape with him. Thats not something ive heard from chh either, forgive me if i dont take what he says to heart.

:eek:lol:

Still mad at him?

I admit I haven't followed this one too close. What's his "issue" with TN?

NYC said he didnt know, but in the 247 article he said he talked to Dooley and everything cleared up.

One thing though, he was talking about how just because he was a childhood fan, doesn't mean its the best place for him. Then he used Kimbrow as an example and said they are pretty close now. Kimbrow could be recruiting against us hard.

It'll be interesting to see Jelks and HC take on Kimbrow, Redmond, and East next week if both won tomorrow like expected.

You guys need to get over it. Several people bring good information to the recruiting forum. It's not a contest and it's certainly not an exact science. There's nothing wrong with them sharing their thoughts and predictions, even if they don't turn out to be 100% accurate -- which they won't.

What I find even funnier, is those who don't add anything to forum or put themselves out there, but want to sit back and criticize others who do.

I appreciate the information that both NYC and OCI share, and Skeeter for that matter. However, the pee pee measuring contest from the peanut gallery needs to stop. If you don't like what a particular poster has to offer, use the ignore function.

OCI and NYC (from what I've seen) don't seem to have a problem with one another, why create one?

That is what makes it so bad!

The other thing is how people simply cannot understand what is happening. OCI/Skeeter were not "wrong" about guys like Humphries and Dawson. Unless you consider DD and his staff to be "wrong". Which is true as far as not getting them, but the info we got was still correct as far as they knew. Which is the best info we can hope to get. The staff will be lied to and kids do change there mind. In fact he was correct, he told us the info about the staff being excited about him (Humphries) and us suddenly having a chance per the coaching staff. They were and we did. So he was right! All an insider with the staff can do is tell us what is happening and what the staff is doing and feeling. If the staff is feeling good about someone like Humphries or O'Brien and OCI tells us its not a guarantee we get them but its still the truth. They got O'Brien and lost Humphries, but the info was clearly accurate as to what was happening and how good our chances were.
