'12 TN OL Andrew Jelks

It seems like it was just six months ago, we were saying jells may be our next commit. Time flies!

From my understanding UA is still very interested in Jelks, but with at most 8 spots left it might be a numbers issue with him having a spot.

I'll bet he can't pick Bama. If we don't think he's that good, I highly doubt they do.

I agree. Unless he has been a silent commitment (to reserve a scholarship) I doubt that he has an actionable offer at either school. My guess is that he will end up at Vandy.

OCI might be able to shed more light on him though.

I also heard something about the staff recently having to meet with him and address some issues he had with UT. Is he the most high maintenance recruit in recent memory? I mean, I know it's a big and important decision...

He is a smart kid and I just believe he wants to make the best decision for him, regardless of where that may be. I certainly hope to have another Vol from my alma mater, but it's not my decision. :)

Grandson of Henry County head coach James Counce Sr. and son of offensive line coach James Counce Jr. Vandy and Mississippi State have both been after Jelks and Counce. Franklin after the Dickinson County offered Counce a full ride. Makes you wonder if Vandy has a "PACKAGE DEAL" going on for the two...

The fact that Vandy has to attempt a 'package deal' to get a player the caliber of Jelks tells you all you need to know about their place in the SEC.

imo, his UT and Bama offers aren't commitable (and won't become commitable) and it'll be a Vandy/Miss St battle

His offers are committable. For the 20th time. Too many star-gazers on here. Jelks is sought after because of his potential. Skills and technique-wise, he's at par if not better than almost all of the OL on the board. Anybody that truly knows football can watch film and see that. He has a monstrous frame to grow into, and the fact that he has a 4.0 and has never been in trouble makes him that much more appealing to coaches.

The Alabama o-line coach has been in Paris since 2. He ate pregame meal with the team and is following them to clarksville tonight to watch jelks. Was told that he told jelks that they want him badly.

Who are they playing? I'm sure they're going to kill whoever it is, Clarksville football sucked pretty bad when I was in high school (03-07). We did have a couple of all-state DB's from Rossview in my graduating class though. I'm sure they'll make Jelks look even better than he already is.

Edit: Ah, looks like they're actually playing Rossview. This could get ugly.
