Kimbrow might not stick with what he chooses, Azubike is still taking visits, and Batey isn't on our radar. Long way until Feb.
As good as it will be for Vandy to pick these guys up, I also agree with you. Given the recent drama surrounding Kimbrow and his offer list, talent, etc., I don't see him sticking come NSD. JMO.
Bowles, Jelks, maybe Redmond, and Mathers or Robinson would be a pretty good in-state haul.

You guys keep leaving Dawson out of that in state recruiting haul for tennessee. Dawson could end up being the best player in the state by the next time rankings come out.

I would not count any of them as real possibilities. I love how now that the Kimbrow ship has sailed they have switched to Mathers and Robinson yet both have not had UT in their top 4-5 and both have expressed big interest in teams OTHER than UT. Maybe if both of them commit somewhere we can find some kid over in Johnson City to go after. In state is not as priority as some make it out to be.

Lol, yes it is!
It can make or break our classes. We don't have enough to make up the majority of a class but 5 or 10 is what we usually have. It makes it more important to get these kids and build relationships for the future. The more we lock up the state the less we have to rely on out of state recruiting, which is hard enough. Take Smith, Gordon, Richardson, Stone, Bullard, Crowder, King, Teague, Thomas, Kerbyson, Clear, etc. out of the last 2 classes and look how much harder it just got. Not to mention the guys we missed on like Hightower, Maclin, Jones brothers, etc. the last few years.
On top of that it always makes you proud to have as many talented TN boys on there as possible.

Kimbrow - Vandy
Azubike - No Offer Vandy
Batey - No Offer Vandy
Bars - Michigan(9 big time offers yet not from us)
Mathers - Wants Auburn..wants to leave the state
Robinson - Arkansas leads..Vols not mentioned
Jelks - Vandy/Bama lead...Vols possible
Bowles - Vols are a good possibility
Voytik - #17 QB No Vol Offer
Gross - #14 QB No mention of the Vols
Nate Cole - Not hearing anything about him w/Vols
Ben Still - Ole Miss
Graham Schuler - Stanford
Jay Guillermo - Clemson
Jaylen Walton - Ole Miss
Sheldon Dawson - Ole Miss Leads
Will Redmond - Tennessee has a shot
If this does not scream CDD has made in state recruiting a priority...I don't know what does.opcorn:
What makes you think Vandy/Bama lead for Jelks?
I am just making a point that in state recruiting is not as priority as alot of the local homers want to make it. There are alot of 3 and 4 star kids on that list with great offer lists that are just being passed over by the staff. Is the staff worried about kissing ass and building relationships in East Mississippi? It does not appear so.
It is a priority. We're not taking players we don't need. Which players are being passed over by the staff? I would love some good information to support your claims. I can reasonably assure you the staff isn't passing over players we need.

Are you not the one who was ready to choke someone when you heard the staff was passing on Kimbrow? You said the staff would be stupid for not going after him with his speed. Has something changed?? Ohhh thats right..he is going to Vandy..we didnt want him anyway.
Voytik, 4 star kid...ya think they are not "passing" on him? I would think we are as they WILL still take a QB.
They passed on Bars as they did not even offer him. I am pretty sure if a kid can play at Michigan, he can play at Tennessee. We will still take 2-3 OTs...Yes, they passed on Bars.
They are passing on kids at positions of need as they will take other kids at the same position. I am NOT saying these kids are the best choice....but just proof that in state kids are not as valued as some like to think.

I don't give a butt where the kids come from as long as we get the best football players for UT. I don't think putting a fence around your state means you'll be successful. It's easier to recruit perhaps but none of it is a guarantee. IMO.
