Yeah you can have Mathers give me Kimbrow for Tennessee. He fills a bigger role than Mathers would.

Since we root for the same team, then if you gave me Mathers and I gave you Kimbrow, wouldn't that mean that Tennessee had both. I'd take that.

I'll take Kimbrow over Mathers ATP, we have Cross which to me is the same player as Mathers. Cross will get more hype once his season starts. I think the staff will take 2 RB's this class, Kimbrow & Cross. We are already in on a couple good RB's for '13 in Elder & Thornton. Plus after this season we will have Neal, Lane, Cross, & T. Smith as Power Backs to go along with Young & Kimbrow as Scat Backs, then IMO you can throw Thornton in there with those 2.

And Toney Williams.

No way you pass on kimbrow over any other running back in the state. That kid has serious speed. Perfect compliment to cross.

Kimbrow over Mathers all day. And it really doesn't matter what any of us on VN think, because the coaches have made it very obvious to everyone that Brian Kimbrow is the #1 overall player on their board.

And besides, Mathers isn't going to UT anyway.

I personally think Cross will be better than Mathers in college. His style of running is very good for a back his size. He has very good feet for back of his size. And very good speed for a 225-230lb back.

I really don't think Cross and Mathers are the same type of back. Cross is quite a bit bigger than Mathers. Cross is around 220 and Mathers is around 195. I'm sure Cross has more power and in my opinion Mathers is more electric with more wiggle. I just think there is something special about Mathers but I'm a Mathers fan who would hate for him to go to another school other than UT but that's probably going to happen. I hate to get into a debate over who is better. None of us really know right now. I would love to have Cross, Kimbrow, and Mathers.

Mathers just has "it". he doesn't have the track stats like Kimbrow, and he doesn't have the physical features such as Cross, but when you watch him play you just know this kid is good.

With Smith, Young, Lane, Neal, Williams already here and Cross onboard...I just don't see us taking 2 more backs with all the other needs at LB, DT. I think the staff will wait for Kimbrow..if for any reason they feel he is headed elsewhere...I would look for them to then look at Mathers.

I do wonder if Mathers wanted to commit NOW...if the staff would take it. I do get the feeling CDD would much rather get the kids commited than wait and hope for the best come NSD.

They'll definitely take 2 backs, possibly 3. The staff offered Mathers and would take his commitment now. But apparently Mathers is more interested in Auburn and Bama IIRC.
