'12 SC WR Quinshad Davis

I dont know why either, but Hubbs has said he can't walk on. He isn't going to say that unless he knows for sure.

So because Hubbs said he can't walk on, you KNOW he can't walk on.

I'm pretty sure Hubbs is referring to inability to pay for school, if that is what he said. It has nothing to do with rules or OVs.

Maybe he meant "won't" which is fine.

If it comes down to Davis, Patterson, Kirven.... or Bullock.... I'm telling Bullock to pay to play or go ask Carson Newman if they have any scholarships left.

We can have open tryouts for a kicker and find someone as good as Bullock to walk on.

Until there is a rule linked that prohibits him from walking on for reason "X", I think "won't" is easier to believe.

There is no such rule.

If Hubbs said he "can't" walk on, he simply means he doesn't have the financial means to do so. That is the only possibility.

Brent has made it clear numerous times that if Bullock is coming, he is coming on scholarship and he said he can't walk on.

Ok. But you said something about it having to do with his OV.... which has nothing to do with walking on.

Maybe he can't or won't... whatever the case is. But it has to be a financial reason. He may not qualify for aid.

Either way Bullock should not get a scholarship over any of the aforementioned recruits.

The NCAA only allows so many scholarships each year, and the number of scholarships differs on the sport. For example, football programs are awarded many more scholarships than a volleyball team. The NCAA also allows "walk-ons," which are defined as athletes who do not receive any financial assistance from financial aid or through a scholarship. They basically pay to be on the team. "Walk-ons" usually join the team after all the scholarships are filled up.

He cannot receive aid. He would not be punished at all for walking on.

So.. he "can't" walk on because he doesn't have the $$.

I dont know but thats what Hubbs said. Fortenberry just said this.

Also, a player can't come on an official visit and then be put on academic scholarship.

This is exactly what I said. This is where the confusion comes in with the OV IMO.

That is probably true. I don't know. But has nothing to do with this situation and whether or not he can walk-on.

An OV prohibits a FB or basketball player from getting academic money I am certain but walking on I don't think so.

Who is the resident rules and regs guy? lol

I know for a fact ANYONE can walk-on if they want to pay their own way into school. That is the bottom line.

As far as whether they get a 1 year academic scholly or something THEN put on athletic scholly.... I just don't know that one.

But anyone can walk-on if they pay their own way. Noone can stop someone from doing that. They have to be able to pass a physical and fill out walk-on paperwork. That's about it.

Excuse me, but which way is the Quinshad Davis thread? I thought this was it, but I continue to read about why Bullock can't walk-on. If someone could re-direct me, then I would greatly appreciate it.

You're in it. This has to do with Davis in a roundabout way, if you want to read the thread.

I see you decided to add nothing of real use as well.

:good!:

All this # of schollies talk needs to go to the appropriate forum and stay off the recruits threads.

Excuse me, when have you posted any information useful on Quinshad Davis or this recruiting class in general?

That isn't why Stokes couldn't play at Memphis. So if you want, you can go correct that poster.

Unlike Kentucky and the hometown Tigers, the Vols had an available scholarship for Stokes to use immediately. Stokes would be ineligible to play this season for Kentucky and Memphis because he took official visits to both schools, which made him a "recruited walk-on." Players who fall into that category are ineligible to play their first year.
