The real question is when is this staff going to land a big time back. Not decent, solid, or servicable.. I'm talking elite. It's the missing piece of the puzzle for the next couple years because I don't think Lane can carry that load.
I think Lane, Smith, and DY need to get a chance. They were all playing as TF and sometimes it takes a year to get up to SEC speed. I could see Smith and Lane being like Houston and Riggs Jr the year they both went for 1000 each. DY needs to be utilized on screens and on wheel routes out of the backfield. Landing a top 10 type back is never a bad thing, but we have backs who can play in the SEC when the Oline is coached to put the effort into run blocking.
