i didnt take it as such. im pretty careful in what i do. even dumb down my post, a few coaches know my writing tendencies fairly well.

I know this guy is considered to be at a luxury position considering our depth, but man if we could get him in the fold that will probably coax more talent our way this year!

OL is never a luxury position. It's rarely a position where you can take only two guys (as it is this year), but it's NEVER a luxury position.

The way great teams stay great is by getting top guys at places that aren't yet positions of need.

obviously landing dj would be a HUGE get for us and a steal from the gators/...but if we happen to not land dj would it be as bad as it sounds? our line is pretty stacked for the next few years and we pulled in some good lineman in last yrs class. obviousy it would suck for him to go to a rival...anyway what do you think?

It's not the end of the world, but it isn't because we have lots of line depth. We do, but we can't let recruiting drop off because of that. But rather, there are lots of good linemen in the world. He's a particularly great prospect, but it isn't like we're choosing between him and one of the Sullins twins.

Our offensive line is one impressive unit right now that is still very young. Several good prospects signed with the Vols last year, so we are technically set there. However, landing DJ would be a GREAT thing as far as establishing momentum goes because he is the #1 offensive tackle in the country. Stealing him from a rival who has had the upper hand on us for the past several years would reflect nicely on Coach Dooley's ability to reel in elite prospects.

So in summary: do we "need" DJ because our offensive line is lacking skill and depth? Definitely not. Would it be a potential momentum booster for this class and make Coach Dooley look good against a rival while also adding to an impressive unit? Very much so. Here's to hoping DJ is a Vol! :dance2:

I think our young depth at ot is our biggest knock with him..its not really an ideal situation for such a highly touted offensive lineman..I'm sure the fl coaches have made it clear to him that a lot of immediate playing time would be unlikely at UT.

nah i let out what i think i can get away with, not nearly as much info as i could. ill admit, i pushed the envelope on peterman and blanc. family and coaches are all that knew when i gave out the info, within minutes of the phone calls i posted about it. stupid on my part. a couple of media members that covers ut athletic were taking info they received from coaches and ad employees for granted. so i leaked the info on those two way before these media guys were aware.
sometimes media gets the info from a recruit before anyone else does, but usually thats not the case. usually the coaches know first, then some staff members, the media guys catch wind of it and contact the recruit.
hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

This is going to sound like sour grapes but I promise it's not...I hope we land DJ...it will be huge in many ways if we do and bad in many ways if we don't...

That being said...I think the recent news about Autry is much bigger than the news about DJ possibly leaning to and picking us on Friday
