'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

Seems like we are kind of banking on Humphries at the OT position. I cannot think of any other big time names at OT that we are pursuing. Hope that means the coaches are confident.

Alexander, Jelks, Diamond, and Waldrop come to mind.

Tennessee -- distance from home -- big plus.

Tennessee -- pretty deep O-Line at the moment -- pretty big negative for all but the most elite prospects. Those usually have enough confidence in their abilities to believe they will be able to earn some playing time relatively quickly (especially after a red-shirt year) and a starting spot soon thereafter.

Tennessee -- Dooley has the Vol Nation solidly behind him and the Lord willing, he will be here for a long time. Hiestand, one of the top O-Line coaches in the country, gives every indication he will be here for a long time also -- big pluses.

Tennessee -- Hiestand has an amazing ability for putting his charges into the NFL, attested to by a long track record -- very big plus.

USCe -- there is almost a zero chance Spurrier will be there for his full 4 years -- huge negative for a kid who highly values coaching staff stability.

Florida -- first year under a new HC who has never been a HC before and is rumored to have a Johnny Majors type love affair with the bottle -- certainly a negative, but I am not sure how big.

Auburn -- Very high probability that the NCAA will hammer them before he is able to put in his time there -- huge negative.

I conclude from these arguments and from comments he has made about liking our staff that he will end up being a Vol.

Hope I am correct. 18 year old high school kids are not always skilled in logic.

Avery Young is a silent to UF but DJ isn't...UF may lead but that can change at anytime. Mo Collins working with him helps UF also but UT is a close 1B atp...he's visiting both schools again this summer and taking OV as well. This one is close and will remain until he enrolls.

J C Shurburtt made a comment about DJ on the blue board. Six hot teams in recruiting this second was the thread.

I agree with this as far as DJ not being a silent. Does that mean he doesn't end up at UF, no but I think we are still in it with DJ.

Yea. It's obvious that yal lead, but the longer we stay in it, ie the longer this draws out, the better I like our chances. Will be interesting to watch.

"word in coaching/recruiter circles is that Humphries is a done deal for UF barring something unforeseen but won't go public for quite some time."-JC Shurburtt

Couldn't find it the other day but it was posted on a UF board...was this comment?

LWS has had a lot of swings and misses lately. This one won't be over until Humphries enrolls at either UT or UF -- I don't care what anyone says.

I don't get the appeal of spending four years in Gainesville. It's easily the most unattractive part of Florida.

so humphries and young are silents? this class is looking great and its only june. hellova OL haul!!!
