So if Dooley can move up four or five spots in Rivals' rankings then he'll be a good recruiter?? Sorry, I'm not buying that.

He's a good recruiter now, just has to build his product up a little.

You won't how good of a recruiter he is till a few years down the road...where he's ranked by Rivals doesn't matter..all that matters is the production on the field.

After a 6-7 season with no experience in big recruiting battles, I'll take the top-15 finish. Imagine what that would translate to after an 11-2 season and ample experience in big-time recruiting.

I agree... unfortunately we wont have that kind of season

Exactly what I'm wondering. He's already brought in a top-15 recruiting class and won several big head-to-head recruiting battles. People continue to act as if he were hired yesterday.

I support Dooley. I think so far he's done a fine job so far. But he is going to need top 5 classes if he wants to get to the level most fans expect UT to be. Top 15 just won't cut it in the SEC. Not for long. Let me add that I think he can get there, but he needs to prove that UT is heading in the right direction. I am not expecting him to pull at top 5 class this year, but if he can establish himself and his methods on the field, then recruits will be more inclined to play here.

This needs to be explained to SMG and the rest of the Lane Kiffin fans on this site always slobbing all over him.

from what i have seen from Dooley is his first class and the six early guys is that he has a eye for talent along with the staff. we have very few misses in his first class which after a yr is impressive to say and by all accounts from the early kids they all have potential to help this yr.. would be a huge statement if we land d.j though

Don't be surprised if we land him. Dooley and staff will eventually get their five-star guys. I think we will be in his final two. Good enough for now.

Finishing second for a recruit is no different from finishing 120th.

Disagree. The more big time prospects that mention your school, the more clout you have in the future with big time prospects. That's big. (time)

Your negativity is annoying BTW.

And, if the prospect changes his mind, like a coaching change or something, the 2nd team is the next logical option.

I agree with SGM that finishing 2nd for a recruit is not something to be proud of.

But if we're 2nd for a recruit on May 15th, then that's a great position to be in.

I mean if you're not first, you're last when it comes to signing recruits. But I do agree with Sab however, the more times that UT hat is on the table, the better.

"I talked with coach Joseph the other day," Humphries said. "He also was at the school this past week. He just stopped by to see how everything is going. He was just checking in on me. He always hits me up on Facebook and gives me some motivational quotes."

Humphries was in Knoxville earlier this spring for a Tennessee practice. A city, school, and program that all have similar attributes to home make Tennessee a tough place to beat.

"It feels like home still," Humphries said. "I like all the coaches and especially coach Dooley, coach Hiestand, and coach Joseph. I like the players a lot too. I hung out with Alex Bullard a lot when I was up there."

It's safe to assume there isn't going to be another coaching change in Gainesville after this season.

Why?

IMO fl has the most unstable coaching staff in the sec. They have coaches there for two reasons...money and using fl as a BIG stepping stone to more money.

Kinda like our 09 staff.

I like the sound of that article. CTJ is putting in work. Finishing 2nd on NSD just means you're the 1st loser.
