'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

Vol friend of mine sent me a note saying one of your insiders on another board (Volchat maybe?) said that Humphries informed the staff that he is not coming to UT and he has cancelled that supposed visit on August 6th.

I've seen Collins at a lot of combines. But he isn't the OL coach at Mallard Creek. In fact the one at Mallard Creek is a lot better.

I am sure your Vol Friend has heard that from the coaches since Skeeter said they haven't been talking about him anymore due to the recruiting leaks...Skeeters info is the only one I beleive...he said he was leaning Vol, talks to our coaches everyday, been to UT 5 times, "may visit the 6th", and can redshirt and learn from a great Oline coach and play on a dominant line.

To me, as long as Skeeter doesn't come on here and post news that he has told the coaches otherwise, I will believe he will commit to the Vols on Friday.

Hope the family is smart enough to not be influenced by Mo and let him go to the best place for him...I am confident they are.:good!:

I am not sure I believe it either, but certainly interesting.

What if the best place for him is Gainesville? You really think he wouldn't get quality coaching from an NFL OL coach for a deacde?

I do think he could get good coaching at Florida as well, but I think it is even(CHH coached at the Bears and everyone of his starting olineman from ILLINIOS got drafted). I also think he needs a redshirt badly and he may be forced into playing before he is ready at UF.

Take those to factors in and I think distance and his parents opinion become much more important and those seem to be drastically in our favor.

Vol.

Hope we get him, but purely for class ranking at this point....we are loaded on the OL....I know we need a few great players at this position every year but don't think this will make or break our class on a needs basis...

You Florida guys on here act like if you win this recruiting battle, you've really done something....fact is you need him more than us at this point, your line sucks.

Our whole talent pool right now is down, but especially on the OL. I agree 100%.

I have said time and time again...........no one player makes or breaks a class.

It might be true or it might not....One thing I've learned over many years following recruiting is that it is extremely rare to have an actual "insider" in the program. Most of the insider posts you see are BS with rare exceptions like Skeeter. I still think it's 50/50 at this point with Humphries.

Certainly possible.

Who knows, and in the grand scheme of life, it doesn't make a difference at all.

we have a 14b trillion dollar deficit and Obama is still president. there are a whole lot of things that dwarf this kid's decision in comparison.

I sometimes wish people paid attention to real world stuff as much as they do recruiting.

They will have won a recruiting battle against a rival for the #3 player in the country at a position of need for them. And personally I'd love to have him since he may need a year or two. By that time we'll need him. I want to reload on oline, not count on sophomores on a yearly basis.

This will suck if we lose him. Saying UF hasn't done something here is minimizing.

It won't be devastating, but is it ever? Rarely.

well since you're clearly someone that pays attention I'm sure you noticed that we have 2 different forums for politics and recruiting. Being in one does not impact the discussion in another. But I'm sure you knew that already and will be sure to keep the discussions separate

Yeah, it's too bad we have never gotten any other 5 star players before and this would be our first time.

Gator. No doubt in my mind.

What logic are you using to come to that conclusion?

Is it that about 3 or 4 weeks ago he ranked his teams Florida 1 and Tennessee 2 and now every gator insider says he is going to Florida due to comments made almost a month ago?

If he had done a public article after his last visit to UT (the last real info we have ever gotten from Skeeter) and said man this trip has me thinkin that TN may be the place for me but I am not sure and will decide by Aug 5th...then everyone would be singing another tune.

But he didn't give a public comment so everyone falls back on the Florida #1, Tennessee #2 quote. Things have changed...and in the Vols favor.

That's hard to believe considering it's been talked about a lot in this thread, which you have been following pretty closely.
I thought it was all speculation. i wanted to see if he had proof or was just saying it since Mo was a Gator, and it's easy to assume "he has to be pushing him to UF".

Go ahead and book him as a gator and anything else is a plus.

Diamond is next on the list then Jelks.

There is only one credible person saying Vol and he hasn't heard anything in two weeks. Gator.

He hasn't heard anything for an entirely different reason...has nothing to do with DJ's recruitment.

What causes you to think he is a Gator? A quote from almost a month ago?
