Amen to that! I've been to a few UofM games and they were good experiences, but the Knoxville gameday experiences flat out blow me away every time. And the weather here is beyond depressing in the winter. I've said the one thing I'd miss about here though is the Coney dogs.

Being a lifetime resident of Florida, I can tell you neither is a bargain. They both are going to do similar damage $ wise...but, you can live through a hurricane unless you're an idiot yet I don't think you have a similar guarantee with a Tuscaloosa or Joplin kind of tornado.

The state yes, my property no. Like I said, I've survived several hurricanes that produced little to no damage to the surrounding area. A few months ago our area was hit by several tornados. A friend of mine was in his basement looking for something he'd boxed away, not realizing we were even under a tornado warning because he hadnt had a tv or radio on all day. He suddenly heard a freight train barrelling toward his house so he crawled under his pool table. He came up a minute later to find his house completely gone, nothing left. I know there are hurricanes that leave that kind of distruction, but they are rare. Hence, I said "typical hurricane".

Never been through a hurricane by I can vouch that a tornado is the most terrifying thing I've been through. The F4 that hit Cleveland lifted off the ground hundreds of feet from my house. Heard it in midair over top of my storm pit. Can't imagine a scarier sound.

I always crave a coney when Im at school. Man if we had a Coney Island on The Strip open late I'd gain about 50 lbs a year. Its usually my last meal before I leave for knox, which just happens to be tomorrow. I always go to Lafayette before I go to Tigers games which has been about 5 or 6 times this summer.

A tornado, if in its path, is far worse than being in a hurricane for the individual. No question about that. But local safety is purely a win in the hurricane column and chance of little to no damage is in the tornado column. Ive been in Florida for 23 years and lived on the east coast of central Florida.. that just so happens to get a taste if not a direct hit 80% of the time with hurricanes. Neither is pleasant. But I'd s%&$ myself if I was in another Tornado. I was speaking local safety as a whole regarding a hurricane being worse.

My apologies...I've been one who has been offering opinions on tornados vs. hurricanes and it was certainly off topic. I'm sorry.

I have to mention, however, it's in the upper 80s with more rain in my neck of the woods today...
