As you know, I'm here pretty regularly....and I can't think of anything postive you've said about our recruiting off the top of my head...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would say this

Second this.

The only way I see this dude's posts are by people quoting him. Things haven't changed.

There was plenty of news just like that on here after his visit here in July...but you seem to be ignoring that...

You're quoting the word from their board but ignoring the word that came from our board...

One of UM's posters was on here saying that if he made it out of the BBQ weekend without committing that we should feel very good....but you skipped right past that one too...

I know you're just "calling it like you see it"...the problem is you always see "it" in a negative light for UT

You got that right!!!!!!!!

Be nice. He can't help himself.

Tennessee still leads for O'Brien.

Pipkins a done deal w/ UM? Not so sure. Watch Sh*ttu.

Pipkins is torn between Michigan and Tennessee. The thought is they pulled Schutt's offer to help ease Pipkins into committing to Michigan. We definitely have a chance with Pipkins, but I feel more confident where we sit with O'brien.

I don't see why some of these DT's don't see what kinda talent we are putting together. We are just a few players from being able to compete.

Schutt's Top 3 are Wisc, PSU, and FL. w/ increasing interest in Wisc and PSU---so I think UM read between the lines and acted accordingly.

All of you keep forgetting Watson, who will be a DT at the next level and someone we lead for. Also, we will be in it with Tomlinson til the end.

Pipkins committed to Michigan today. Michigan has always said they'll only take one DT this year. Now let's see if they hold true to that statement or if it was just a pressure tactic to get O'Brien or Pipkins to commit.

Good for UT either way...

Don't be surprised if O'Brien pulls the trigger for Tennessee in the near future...

You inside info or is this just a guess?

Read the Pipkins thread and you may have a different take on that.

this is where youre off.

Michigan started out being able to only take one, it has since come out that they would very oipen to taking two if the two were Pipkens and OBrien

Thats what I've been reading. I don't feel near as confident about him as I once did.

Pipkins was the second DT they have taken in this class already. I do think this means O'Brien is Tennessee bound now.

The next few months is going to be a battle for O'Brien. Michigan is a much more attractive destination than it was a few months ago. With all that said, the staff likes where we are.

Why is everyone happy that Pipkins committed to UM? He's a DT that we were in on and came up shot yet again in a position of great need. Those that think this means UT sits better with O'Brien now shouldn't assume that. UM would take both just like UT would. Pipkins is a Haynesworth type space eater, and one of the top DT's in this class. I know everyone just loves O'Brien because he's given the love for a while, but he's no lock.

There was never a time in my mind that Pipkins was coming here. I think it was obvious that he was going to UM all along. I for one am troubled about O'Brien.

I did read the other thread.

Had Pipkins gone elsewhere, O'Brien would have been a 80/20 lean to Michigan. Now that Pipkins is committed to Michigan, those odds have flipped in Tennessee favor IMO.

Michigan:
  • Hometown team
  • Less Travel
  • Renewed Excitement within the program
  • Could be a part of a stellar class
Tennessee:
  • Was on him early (offered before Mich)
  • Hunting and loves the East TN area
  • Playing Time
  • Game day atmosphere (likes Tennessee better than Michigan in this aspect)

I think the threads that he is talking about is the ones about UM taking two DT's instead of one and that He really wants to play alongside his best friend who is an UM commitment.

Don't automatically assume that w/ Pipkins (UM) commit, O'Brien inks w/ the Vols. Just so everyone is on the same page...UM, for reasons still unknown pulled (5*) Tommy Schutt's offer BUT has made it clear to O'Brien that he still has an offer waiting.
I believe that Tennessee still leads for O'Brien but, it's not a "done deal" by any means. IMO

Like your optimism. We're definitely not out of it but I would not be so sure that O'Brien is a VOL Lock or Pulls the Trigger soon.
