It's a UT/Bama battle in the end, no question. I think we have the edge, but I wouldn't say the lead is "wide."

Along with a guy like Bowman and any big-time DE's or LB's out there, O'Brien is easily a Top 5 must get for this class.

I dont think he will commit soon. I could be wrong, but there is a tug of war for his services. Michigan is alive, Bama and us. this is a battle and not a foregone conclusion

That is the way it sounds to me as well. I'd say the longer his recruitment drags on, the less likely Tennessee being his destination becomes.

I feel a lot better about O'Brien than I did a couple of days ago. We're pretty far out front. Bama et al. will make a push, but IMO it will not be enough.

I have been thinking the opposite. But that's just MO.

Great Alabama getting into the mix...just what we need.

So what............we have to beat them on the recruiting trails first before we beat them on the field. Scheming can only do so much. Players win games plain and simple. Example: Cam Newton

Don't underestimate their ability to use that as a selling point somehow, playing on pity and adversity.

I'm not underestimating them, but to me there are 2 reasons to go there now:

1) Volunteer to help in the cleanup. I have nothing but admiration for those folks.

2) Gawk at the destruction. Not admirable.

Not a good time to go unless you're doing #1. JMO.

I agree, last week I felt like our lead had slipped away and that we would end up not being able to get him down south.

Now I feel like I did about a month ago, where we are the clear cut favorites!

Michigan will press but O'Brien (early on in the process) indicated a desire to leave the state.
Alabama has the talent to compete for a NC.
Tennessee is re-building, and years from returning to (competing for) NC status.
O'Brien strikes me as strong willed and independent...if correct, then I believe he will choose Tennessee---early playing time, rich tradition, and an opportunity to be a part of something special while creating his own legacy.

Arkansas has offered.

"It was great," O'Brien said of the offer to Arkansas. "I was on a hot streak last week and Arkansas was one of the schools offering me. I feel honored to be offered by Arkansas, a big SEC program."

"The first thing is can I be comfortable there whether that is in the dorms, around the coaches or in the athletic facility since that's where I will spend most of my time," O'Brien said. "The other thing is the coaches."

O'Brien was able to visit a few colleges this spring including one SEC school.

"I went to Tennessee," O'Brien said of the school that was the first one to offer him a scholarship. "I went to a Junior Day at Michigan State and I also went to Michigan to visit with the coaches, but it wasn't a Junior Day or anything."

Last I heard Michigan wasn't making much of a push for him. Lot of UM fans mad about this, he sounds like a very big lean for the Vols.
