I can't tell you how awesome O'Brien's annoucement timing is going to be going into UGA weekend. We will have some serious momentum on our favor and our fans are going to be happy going into the UGA game if he picks us.

Unfortunately, I will be teaching when he announces tomorrow and will be late to the VN celebration. So, here are my preemptive thoughts on the situation:

boom

What do you teach? I will be done with my classes at 230 tomorrow, just in time!

Santos helped seal the deal with O'Brien, even though he's been a Tennessee lean for awhile. Santos helped recruit him pretty hard since his commitment. We need one more DT in this class with O'Brien and Jacobs. Shanks would be amazing to pull away from FSU. But I did actually hear we're actively recruiting Howie Long's son (listed as an OL but being recruited by Tennessee as a DT). He's 6'8 288lbs. Not highly rated but I believe he originally went to FSU and has since transferred to JUCO out in California.

Are our chances with shanks increasing or something??

Thanks for the info, good stuff

I'm no expert or insider on this; but reading Shanks' Rivals quote on 'researching depth charts', plus the UT vs. FSU depth chart differences, plus what OCI (take his word or leave it, I understand) has said on the subject the of staffs recruitment of committed prospects; I would say Yes, we're looking better for Shanks.

Couple of things to share:

1) For Avett Brothers fans --> Before the gang blew up huge on the national scene they came and played at my college in west TN for only like $15,000. A day later we wouldnt have been able to afford them because the next day their price went up to $30,000. Me and my buddy who were in charge of the concert operations got to pick them up from the airport, eat with them and whatnot. My buddy actually took Bob to the dollar store to get a razor. Those guys are super nice, genuine, and unbelievably down to earth, and loved talking to us commoners. It’s a great bonus that they are great performers and play real music in a world that’s lost in synthesizers and junk. I will go see them every year until they stop playing, they’re that good. Favorite album: Emotionalism w/ The Second Gleam coming in at a close second.

2) Sorry about that novel i just wrote up there, but when I hear Avett Brothers it excites me. As for our buddy O’Brien tomorrow... he’s undoubtedly a Vol. There is no reason he would be taking a visit to Knoxville a week later knowing how pissed everyone at Neyland would be. He’s been a silent for a while now. The LSU game will be him getting to know his new football family. Check out this article written on the battle for Danny.

I think we will also see more than just O’Brien commit this week. I feel as though this weekend we could see a commitment from either TE Meredith, or more of a stretch... “Pig” and Joseph. The latter is obviously wishful thinking, but never underestimate the power of a night game in Neyland.

Rucker tweet..
@wesrucker247: Top247 DT Danny O'Brien previously had 4 finalists: Tennessee, Mich, Mich St, Bama. Just 2 hats on table today, tho. We've got the latest.

I know a lot feel this kid is a Vol. Who do you think the two hats are?

They are great guys. They recently dedicated a song to a friend of mine in Atlanta that was killed. Her family requested permission to play it at her funeral, and at their next show in town, they dedicated it to her memory. Incredibly classy. They made a fan for life that night.
