FAVOR AND IT'S COMING SOON. BREAKERBOY THANKS. THEY MAY ALL SAY WHAT THEY WANT TOO NOW, BUT JUST WATCH THE REACTION SOON. I GIVE BOURQUE WRONG FOR SOME COMMENTS HE MADE ABOUT A SITUATION AWHILE BACK DURING HIS RECRUITMENT, HIS DAD GOT ON HIM VERY BAD ABOUT THE REMARKS.BUT WHEN THE NEWS HIT ABOUT THAT, PEOPLE WILL UNDERSTAND. THIS KID SAT DOWN WITH HIS DAD AND I LAST WEEK AND SAID DAD, IF I WOULD'VE ONLY LISTENED TO YOU THIS SITUATION WOULDN'T BE GOING ON. THE YOUNG MAN SAID HIS 2nd DAY IN KNOXVILLE HE WAS READY TO LEAVE AND IT SHOWED WITH MY WORKOUTS AND MY FOCUS. I ALMOST GAVE UP FOOTBALL BECAUSE OF A SITUATION AND PEOPLE THINK IT'S ME. I'M A YOUNG MAN THAT WAS TRYING TO BELIEVE IN EVERYONE AND MAKE EVERY COACH HAPPY, WHEN I SHOULD'VE BEEN MAKING DAVANTE HAPPY. I LOOKED AT THIS YOUNG MAN AND TOLD HIM EVERYTHING WILL WORKOUT. TO THE BOARD I'M NOT HIS DAD, BUT HIS DAD AND I ARE SO CLOSE I THINK OF THIS YOUNG MAN AS MY SON. WHEN THE STORY BREAKS SOON PEOPLE WILL SEE IT WASN'T BOURQUE AT ALL. THIS KID DAD NEVER SAID DOOLEY COMMITTED A VIOLATION OR ANOTHER COACH COMMITTD A VIOLATION. AGAIN BROKEN PROMISES AND THE KID WAS READY TO LEAVE ON DAY 2. HIS DAD FORCED HIM TO STAY, BUT HE LEFT ON HIS OWN. I WOULD'VE DID THE SAME ALSO. ENTIRE STORY COMING SOON.

I can only assume "broken promises" means he was told he would play immediately but even an idiot knows you have to show the ability to play at an SEC level to get carries In this league...

You better hope Borque decides to keep the "real story" to himself of he's just going to look like another jaded prima donna...ask the center from Killen TX in 99 just what it means to expose UT for broken promises...

Thats right...nothing...you look like nothing but a jaded fool that thought the SEC was gong to be handed to you on a platter...until a 6'6" 370 behemoth close lined you and you took you ball and went home

vol fans it's nothing dooley did illegal, so don't even worry about that. but if it was my son and this same situation i would understand him for leaving and help him get back on track with school and football.

I hope he finds the best place for him to get to the next level in life, what ever and where ever that might be. GOOD LUCK!!

Why am I not surprised bam the tool man Taylor bumped this thread and Louisiana hot sauce shows up talking about broken promise cuz his boy wasn't handed a starting position. This ain't a hand me down sport you earn your right to play

U drinking tonight Thunder? Don't think i've seen this side of you yet...

Yeah...but that's beside the point...this whole "broken promises" thing is bull****...you come in and you earn carries...they arent handed to you...the only promise our coaches made was that he would get a shot at RB...which no other school was willing to give him

This and they will play the young kid with a childd angle. Guess what Daniel gray has a kid and he don't run home. He is out to make money for his future

Could he have been promised to be 'white girled'? .... Just kidding..... But seriously we lost a recruit from that....

I mean how many times must it be said the young man was never promised a starting job. Its funny as hell to me you guys wanna speculate. But i guess you're gonna say not our tennessee soon. It will be another excuse of why it can't be true. Some of you guys call the young man a liar. When someone accuse me of something i step forward and defend myself. That person or anyone has never said, we never promised, we never said anything.

My friend, this thread was going away very quickly. Soon, we will be in the season, and Davante will move on with his life and Tennessee and it's fan's will move on. Anything that you want to bring to light will only prolong this and degenerate into a firestorm. It would be my suggestion that you let it go before this gets into a lot of hurtful and unneeded name calling and accusations. :hi:

I am an engineer by trade...so I deal more with numbers than with written words...but I like to think that I have a basic grasp of the English language...and what you have said here makes no sense at all...I can't even guess what you meant by this

I don't know if my volnation "stars" show up because I'm on my phone, but I've been on here since '07, and I will say that I respect Thunder as a poster over most. Maybe its his trade as an engineer but all of his posts ate generally fair and accompanied with facts and sound analysis.

I don't post much, as my post count would illustrate after five years, but I would suggest to follow his advice.

Let's move on to the Vols on campus and simply wish Davante all the best in the future.

Go Vols!

It's a freaking message board. Opinions here don't represent the whole fan base. Not even CLOSE to a majority. My best advice for you is to just stop posting. There is no reason to get on here and "defend" anyone. You're doing more harm, actually.

The downfall in this stance Bam is that he left before the pads really started pounding...the coaches may have promised him playing time but did he really think he was going to get it without going through the gauntlet of 2 a days?

His actions thus far are that of someone who lacked the mental fortitude to make it as a SEC RB...until something more substantiative comes out im going with that

When they left for Milligan, he was 5th string. Pads had already popped by then. He left the team the same day they were leaving for Milligan.

So yes, he was 5th string AFTER pads pounded. Watson was getting more reps than him already. He was p*ssed about that.

I really hope he does come out and tell his side of the story, but the bottom line is none of us know what was said for sure. All the things we hear are second hand info at best. We need a RB and none of this he said she said will slove anything. I wish the best for DB in the future and
GO VOLS!!!!! JMO!!! Go Vols!!!!!

I'm pretty confident on this situation.

The family situation compounded it all, but the main issue with UT (and why he wouldn't answer their calls) is because he was pitched things about playing time in order for UT to keep him out of Miami. He felt like UT lied to him. He was told we had no run-game and it was open competition and he should get carries as a freshman. But 5th string didn't sit well. Everything supposedly escalated pretty quickly. One minute he was telling other players he was "picking up the offense better". Then he packs up and leaves as the team left for Milligan. He left half his belongings in his dorm. Just wanted out of here.

My main purpose is to disprove rumors that it was a $$$ thing. If you don't want to believe me fine, but just don't believe we offered him money. There are far better RBs we could have offered money to.

Practicing for two days aint pounding the pads. I would like to hear louisiana's thoughts on devante's decision to leave without telling the coaches or players, and if they condone such behavior in the bayou.

Louisiana, I get the feeling that you might be Davante. Your long comment in all caps a few posts up has a lot of mixed English in it. There are many comments where it sounds like you are referring to yourself in 1st person. If you are Davante, take Thunder5's advice and stop posting for your sake, because this will continue to get messy up in here.

SN: I get the feeling that the broken promise may be that the coaching staff moved him to WR after a few practices when he wasn't cutting it at RB. Maybe CJG saw after a few practices that he really didn't have what it took to be a SEC level RB. The coaches discussed it and thought the best move would be to go ahead and let him the learn the playbook at WR. Remember that LSU wanted him at WR, and many have said he would be a better fit there. That is really the only promise that I can think of that would make sense and would favor Davante's reputation.

Possible, I wonder if Dools knew or suspected DR would be gone soon and that played a factor in a position switch?

That is REALLY possible. I read in one of the threads that DD and others internally had known about whatever caused him to get indefinitely suspended since June. Maybe the coaches gave him his chance at RB, saw that he would be buried on the depth chart, and moved him to WR. Only thing that doesn't make sense with that is surely the media would have been all over the switch, and would have asked DD about it in one of his interviews.

Plus you'd think devante would have leaked the... They tried to move me to wr excuse

Scrambling around for more excuses IMO.
