'12 LA ATH Davante' Bourque (UT SIGNEE)

I got a feeling him and his dad didn't like us looking to bring in someone with a chance to take his place next year. Maybe they didn't understand and that's what they thought was a promise. I remember Green saying we would only take one RB in this class and that has changed for sure.

I know about the issues and have read most of the stuff from the LSU fans and do believe most of it , even if I don't think it was our business. Thing is , I'm not blind and it's hard to ignore stuff like that. This stuff being said by his dad does make it look like our fault , when you know some of the blame is on Davante. I wish him well. You will never get everything to go your way. You have to earn it and I don't believe he was in the right frame of mind to do that at Tennessee. Hope he takes control of his life. He is still young and has time to change all of that. Nobody can fix your life except you. Family support is a great thing , but in the end it's what you do with yourself.

Good luck DB! :peace2:

Please tell us what is being said on LSU. Boards.

What's your take on the notion that the welfare of his child was in question? Legit situation? or scrambling for excuses when he bailed on the program?

I have no additional information on the various baby mammas. As for why he left, I don't know, I don't really care, and it's not really a surprise though. I fail to see how going to CC over there helps.

All one has to do is go look at the videos of him talking on youtube. Family members are not helping by getting on these boards.

The truth of the matter, is the guy was borderline SEC RB material, with hard work, a red shirt, more hard work, maybe he could have become a change of pace back late in the game. I was glad he was not signed by LSU and basically all the bridges have been torn down.

Take this as a blessing in disguise.

This is what gets you on the field in BR, not promises. I consider this good for Tennessee.

I was big on Bourque to start, no doubt. His film was undeniable, and he played against good competiton. I think he could have been a really good player. At the end of the day, this IS probably good for UT in the long-term. I can only judge a player based on what I see, and the film from practice made him look like a little girl.

No.

He was promised immediate playing time and was leaving for Milligan sitting at 5th string on the depth chart, even behind Watson.

He wasn't getting ANY type of playing time this year, likely headed for redshirt. He didn't like the way things were going. We told him he was our answer at RB, clearly he saw that wasn't the truth.

Dooley said he had "a long way to go" before he got playing time, this was long before Bourque left.

This should let everyone the talent we have at RB now, neal, lane, and young can get it done. DB would not have seen playing time this year.

You have no clue. He was on campus a month. There was no depth chart, and I seriously doubt he was promised to be starting day 1.

Did I say he was promised to be starting from day 1? No. He was told there would be playing time, in some form, on the table for him as a freshman. Wasn't gonna happen.

Re-read it, joker.

He was told there would be playing time as a freshman. Coaching staff's do make promises to players. Ours is no different. Why do people think Dooley/UT are too good to make promises, especially after a 5-7 season? To a highly rated RB, when we were dreadful running the ball last year? Why is that so impossible?

Do you have proof of this or are you just throwing ish against the wall and hoping it sticks.

There's no way to prove it in any way. That is what I was told. I believe that person over anyone who says we offered him $$, which is what I was replying to.

I'm sure Bourque will eventually come out and be interviewed about it. You will see.

The downfall in this stance Bam is that he left before the pads really started pounding...the coaches may have promised him playing time but did he really think he was going to get it without going through the gauntlet of 2 a days?

His actions thus far are that of someone who lacked the mental fortitude to make it as a SEC RB...until something more substantiative comes out im going with that

Would your information hurt or favor Davantes "reputation" ?

FAVOR AND IT'S COMING SOON. BREAKERBOY THANKS. THEY MAY ALL SAY WHAT THEY WANT TOO NOW, BUT JUST WATCH THE REACTION SOON. I GIVE BOURQUE WRONG FOR SOME COMMENTS HE MADE ABOUT A SITUATION AWHILE BACK DURING HIS RECRUITMENT, HIS DAD GOT ON HIM VERY BAD ABOUT THE REMARKS.BUT WHEN THE NEWS HIT ABOUT THAT, PEOPLE WILL UNDERSTAND. THIS KID SAT DOWN WITH HIS DAD AND I LAST WEEK AND SAID DAD, IF I WOULD'VE ONLY LISTENED TO YOU THIS SITUATION WOULDN'T BE GOING ON. THE YOUNG MAN SAID HIS 2nd DAY IN KNOXVILLE HE WAS READY TO LEAVE AND IT SHOWED WITH MY WORKOUTS AND MY FOCUS. I ALMOST GAVE UP FOOTBALL BECAUSE OF A SITUATION AND PEOPLE THINK IT'S ME. I'M A YOUNG MAN THAT WAS TRYING TO BELIEVE IN EVERYONE AND MAKE EVERY COACH HAPPY, WHEN I SHOULD'VE BEEN MAKING DAVANTE HAPPY. I LOOKED AT THIS YOUNG MAN AND TOLD HIM EVERYTHING WILL WORKOUT. TO THE BOARD I'M NOT HIS DAD, BUT HIS DAD AND I ARE SO CLOSE I THINK OF THIS YOUNG MAN AS MY SON. WHEN THE STORY BREAKS SOON PEOPLE WILL SEE IT WASN'T BOURQUE AT ALL. THIS KID DAD NEVER SAID DOOLEY COMMITTED A VIOLATION OR ANOTHER COACH COMMITTD A VIOLATION. AGAIN BROKEN PROMISES AND THE KID WAS READY TO LEAVE ON DAY 2. HIS DAD FORCED HIM TO STAY, BUT HE LEFT ON HIS OWN. I WOULD'VE DID THE SAME ALSO. ENTIRE STORY COMING SOON.

I really hope he does come out and tell his side of the story, but the bottom line is none of us know what was said for sure. All the things we hear are second hand info at best. We need a RB and none of this he said she said will slove anything. I wish the best for DB in the future and
GO VOLS!!!!! JMO!!! Go Vols!!!!!

Thanks for keeping us in suspense.... It's hard to see a scenario where all involved win, but I sure hope that is the case when the news finally breaks...... Still having a hard time thinking what the broken promise was. I'm thinking it had to be something off the field, because it's near impossible to break an on the field promise two days into practice.

vol fans it's nothing dooley did illegal, so don't even worry about that. but if it was my son and this same situation i would understand him for leaving and help him get back on track with school and football.
